    Hi,

I have almost 6 BlackBerry PlayBooks lying in my closet (dust-free). I want to make some use of it. I also have BlackBerry PlayBook keyboard with mouse touchpad. So I found this guy at reddit using his tablet for home automation. It's cool but my house isn't ready for this stuff yet.

Want to know what you guys doing with PlayBooks. Can someone develop an app like this for home automation, a dashboard where it may help to start my day without touching the screen. Like a dashboard shows new emails, appointments, weather, reminders, news updates, etc in a screen.

    My ideas:
Photo album hanging on wall or side table.
Framed PlayBook with hdmi connected to TV. Connected to home-theatre via bluetooth (BlackBerry Music Gateway).

I use one of mine as a radio or music player in my workshop area.
The speakers sound much better than an android tablet I also have, and if I want I connect to a set of external powered speakers.
I use the Neutron player app and have been very happy with it. Plus it is still being updated by the developer.

Unfortunately you'll probably get some more smarta$$ answers like above. IMO if the PlayBook still works and there is an app still available that allows you to keep using it... why not.

I now have three as their 5MP camera and auto sync cloud access through "SME" makes for a very affordable device to document the building of our controller assemblies. It does what I need it to do.

I have kobo, eReader app and sideloaded kindle, moon reader and flip board on it and use it as my eReader for all my books. Works great!

It is also my travel media device. Load it up with books and movies and music and link it to hotel tvs via micro hdmi cable.

I use my PlayBook more than my Samsung tab.

If it bricks I don't care. I'm rough with it and it still keeps on working.

I still have 2 of them. They are great for movies on the plane or in the car. Also good as an eReader.

I have 6 or 7 BlackBerry PlayBooks although I only use one tablet as a radio and clock in my bedroom. The other tablets are in storage in the basement; three of them have never been activated.

If you have a few in storage, I trust that where they are is not damp or musty. I suggest activating those 3 to be sure that the batteries will charge, then update to the newest version of the OS in case you want to use or sell any of them.
