    wow! Way to make a mountain out of a molehill!

    What is with all these folks who insist on a full power down? Like several other posters have already said, just leave it powered on all the time, except if you're flying, or setting it aside for several days. It seems to me that the only people who are affected are those who insert the plug as the device is going into power off mode. In this case, couldn't RIM program an exception into the power-off routine so that the last thing it does before entering the power-off state is check that the power cord is supplying power and if so, it aborts the power-off sequence and puts the device into sleep mode instead? Easy for me to type... maybe less easy to program.

    I tried to charge my PB while it was turned off one time and it didn't charge. I think it's better not turning it off. That way you get to use the device instantly instead off waiting for it to go through bootup process.
