Default Strongly considering a Playbook. Seeking advice.

Hello,
So I am strongly considering a 64GB PB. I am an avid Android phone guy and want to get a 7" tablet. Of course my first choice was to get one of the 7" Android tabs from Samsung, Toshiba, or Acer. They all had somewhat OK reviews but everyone seemed to complain about the OS lagging and having very poor battery life. So I decided to look at some BB PB reviews and most of them are favorable in the OS and the battery life areas. If I didn't know OS2 was coming out soon, this PB would not even be on my radar. So I am looking for some advice from some current PB users. Here is a list of what I WILL/WOULD LIKE to use the PB for (in no particular order and I don't have a BB phone which I don't believe I will need to do any of this because I have WiFi at home and work):
-Web browsing
-Listen to music (Pandora, and what I upload into the on-board memory)
-Social web sites like Facebook and LinkedIn
-Email (MS Exchange, Yahoo, Google. I know I will need OS2)
-Calendar (MS Exchange. I know I will need OS2)
-Contacts (MS Exchange, Google if possible. I know I will need OS2)
-LIGHT gaming
-MS Office document review and editing (specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
-Note taking (something like Evernote hopefully)
Is there anything here I wouldn't be able to do with a PB once OS2 comes out? Or are there any Android to BB PB converts who could shed some light for me? Thanks so much in advance for your help.

Yes you will be able to do all of that with OS2 and most of it right now with 1.8. And for the price you really can't go wrong.

Based on the items you listed I would say you can't go wrong with the PB. It should more than meet your needs. Most places have a return policy so you'd have that safety net but I'd be very surprised if you weren't completely happy with the Playbook. Go for 64 GB if you can so you have more room for music to be stored. The sound on my PB is great and even without current "native mail" at this time there are still short cuts currently to log in to each of the big 4 email providers in the wonderful PB browser. OS 2 will only improve on this with native but it's fine currently as is even without bridging.

Pandora android app works, so if you're decent with tech, you can sideload this.

Get the 64gig, bigger is better with the PlayBook. The documents to go work pretty much like the microsoft versions. However the review system lags, spell check that is. No worries after using shoot it to your cpu and all issues are fix as these programs work in windows office. You will find yourself using the PlayBook a lot for things you never considered. I got a netbook and laptop collecting dust because of this thing.

I highly recommend getting a Playbook. I'm glad I did. I wanted an Android tablet but just didn't have enough funds for the least expensive good-quality one and finally broke down and spent the $200 for a Playbook. Best move I made.

Once I got used to the Playbook way of doing things, I can't imagine ever wanting an Android tablet or iPad, it's that good. Pure convenience and performance. The system seriously lacks apps and games, but there are enough good ones to keep a person content...unless that person just can't live without Doodle Jump or a few other highly popular games. What it does have is enough to tide me over for now, though.

I love the navigational system of the Playbook. And the multitasking/app switching is the best there is. I used to believe WebOS had the best multitasking function in the mobile market. Then I experienced the Playbook. I am won over by what the Playbook offers. It's truly a tablet worth the $500 launch price, but for $200.

1. Buy a Playbook
2. Put receipt in safe place
3. Spend the next week exploring your purchase
4. Decide: keep/return

This is the only true way to make a decision in a way that you will be truly informed with firsthand knowledge.

Me? I'm a Playbookaholic. My decision was based on the fact that it says Blackberry. I'm kinda biased like that.

Thanks everyone so far for the great responses. I am a Reward Zone Silver member at Best Buy so I would have 45 days return on it.

I think i am going to get one with 64GB. Any other thoughts? Would it be worth switching to a BB phone? I have the HTC Amaze right now.

Am excited to get the PB.

Well...I can't really speak to BB's latest phones, the phone experience I did have caused me to put BB in the rearview mirror and never look at them again. It was so horrible that I believed RIM put that model out for no other reason than to gauge how much anger and hate they could endure. But the Playbook is a sure winner...once you become familiar with it. It's the only thing that could win me back. And only after becoming familiar with it.

I have an android phone and love Android and suggest you give the playbook a go. I have some problems with wifi hotspot but simple browser solved it. I hope OS2 lives up to my expectations and solves my wifi issues; but at the price I paid I can't cry too much... I will anyways for everyone else though!

Default BB phone to go with PB

Well, I suppose it depends on how much you like the features of the bridge...
with 2.0 these include:
Remote control of pb ... all gestures, keyboard entry, mouse control via touchscreen and trackpad,
open on -- open phone content on your playbook... from your phone.
access to bbm from pb,
pb gets free non-tethering web access through your phone's data plan,
more stuff I'm sure.

The current crop of bb7 phones are fast, but you may want to wait for the bb10 phones before making the switch... I'd go play with a bb7 phone and see if you like it enough to switch now.

I've got a bold 9700 at the moment, but I'm upgrading to a bb7 bold 9900 and will just upgrade again when the bb10 phones hit.

These responses have helped me decide. I have ordered a 64GB PB and it should be here Tue or Wed. Paid $214 at BB for a refurbished one.
