    Default SlingBox PB access

    Hi All,

Like most, I have been very eagerly awaiting the Playbook. Very limited 32MB availability in local brick and mortar stores has allowed me to delay dropping $600. As much as I want one, I'm leaning towards giving RIM a few weeks to fix some of the early omissions. (Full disclosure requires me to admit that issues reliably enabling Bluetooth on my 9630--VZW running 5.0.0.975--probably has more to do with it than my will power thus far!)

Back on topic; has anyone tried logging into/watching their SilngBox over the slingmedia.com website (since a Sling Player Mobile app hasn't been released for the PB yet)?

Also does Google Voice and/or Talk work via their websites?

    Thanks for your input!

Sling box does NOT work through their website. We are anxiously waiting to see if they make an app!

Google Voice web app works fine... at least for sending/receiving messages. I haven't tried to make a call from it.

Even if they do, it won't support the older hardware just like the newest SlingPlayer for iOS doesn't. They nixed pretty much all the hardware off the supported list except the HD version for no good reason.

Yeah. Seems like since Echostar bought them out, the eople at sling didn't want to develop or fix anything at all.

Default Sling box has thee worst product support it the business

I have had sling box for years and recently upgraded to sling box hd pro to use on my iPad, they give you very poor product support during your warranty period (45 days, lol and pathetic). The app for the iPad works and appears much different to my laptop version (and doesn't work nearly as well) I am about to get the playbook as it will hopefully multi task this app as opposed to the iPad 2 shutting it down if you go anywhere else in the iPad. I am hoping this app will work better on the playbook and secondly hoping they get some competition soon to keep them honest!

i agree that the iPad version doesn't work all that well and is noticeably slower than the computer interface in terms of responding to commands.

Slingbox people are idiots, they have a great product and do nothing to upgrade, costing them sales, it's quite humorous. As more and more phones get made they sit there with dwindling user's able to even use there slingboxes. And nobody buying new ones cause the newer phones aren't supported.

First, they have to make one for the PB and considering how far the old BB app got, I wouldn't hold my breath too much. Also, if they ever get the website streaming portion to work, you may not be able to multitask it because the current incarnation of the PB browser doesn't multitask tabs.
