i think it's not coming ..and we have to accept that.. RIM insists to make the video chat exclusive for the native app ..
they think it would be famous like the BBM ..but it won't !!! someone wake'em up ! - 05-01-2012, 09:53 AM #27
Well the front page has an article about some other VOIP coming to bb10. I guess it still won't be good enough though since it isn't Skype.

Yep even though I don't video chat it needs this. I would love an IM app that works with them all and doesn't time out if it isn't the focus. My main thing I want yet.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again for the millionth time... SKYPE is coming... BUT it will be integrated into the native chat application. One stop shop sort of thing. The contacts app will eventually be connected with Skype as well as well as BBM and then you will be able to go into the native video chat app and select BBM/Skype or BB contacts to video chat with.

but how did gain such info - 05-01-2012, 12:37 PM #37
my ex gf's brother (now one of my friends) works at RIM, he's a network engineer and is now working on getting BBM to the Playbook and working with the NOC's and back end network stuff to get BBM to work as it should. So there is a lot of incorporation going on with another third party vendor (skype) to get the contact lists in the address book.

I could be wrong but isn't the PB the only BB unit with a FF camera?
Perhaps that's why Skype isn't in a hurry to develop something for phone hardware that couldn't utilize all of Skype's features properly anyway.
Maybe for the next generation of phones?? - 05-01-2012, 03:43 PM

Skpye HD For PlayBook....

Skype is a dream at the moment. Until the BB include 'VP8' as a codec on the PB. VP8 is the low def vid codec that Skype uses. They will not release an app based on hi-def only (H264) as the data stream would not be cost effective and eat bandwith for the end user.

Apps, but in particular Skype was the reason I switched to the "Bright" side and I'm blackberry to the core. So sad.
C'mon bb10...get a platform that loves apps.Last edited by blacker_berry; 05-01-2012 at 08:47 PM.
