Default Skype for iPad just announced. Will PB owners ever see it?

Skype for iPad looks like it is going to hit the app store imminently. I have to say it looks pretty damn good. Will the PB ever see this. Alas if I'm honest I think not

At the very least, I think the chances are good that we will see an Android version of Skype. Maybe when RIM releases the Android emulator to the masses we will see Skype ported to App World?

It's going to need the QNX NDK to be built. I highly doubt that Skype will be made for the playbook using AIR.

Or as vontez mentioned above, maybe they'll rebadge the Android version...

Skype will eventually find its way on the blackberry QNX supported platform

    There are 2 possible scenarios

1-Microsoft through marriage to RIM requests Skype to develop through the NDK......There was news/rumors that Skype wasn't going to build an app...Now that Skype is owned by Microsoft....No info should be trusted unless it is officially announced by Microsoft.

2-Skype will be deployed through the Android app player

Regardless of which avenue is taken...Skype will eventually be supported...Just a matter of which route>>That could include other possible avenues other then the above 2 I have mentioned!

skype is more than just video chat like RIMs video chat software. It would have to become much more robust than in its current state

skype is the staple of video and voice chat on this planet....it's a must for RIM to integrate it for the PB....

It's one app (and I know there could be others) that facilitate cross platform video chat....

right now, I don't use the native video chat on the PB because all of my 'video chat' contacts use other platforms...

for the moment, I use ReelPortal (which I am grateful for) to vchat with non RIM users....however the quality leaves a lot to be desired....having chatted with skype and facetime from ipod to iphone to macbook....you'd know what i mean.....

I wonder how long it would take for this to come out for our pb's? It took a year and 3 months for skype to release the app for the ipad... And its not even out yet but real soon... With rim's super duper slow way of aprooving apps it might be light years away...
