Well, it *is* a beta OS, and I had no problems with native e-mail on the 2.0.1 before it.
Others are having mixed results, although most aren't having issues with the .840 beta.
I didn't do a backup & security wipe before the beta install either... maybe that had something to do with it. No problem now, I may re-enable email, but I use bridge a lot and native e-mail is pretty redundant for me.
