- I was surprised to see that Amazon is not in the list of retailers for PlayBook. I prefer to buy things from Amazon as
- fastest to ship, I have free 2 day shipping due to Amazon Prime
- I can even go opt for one day shipping (due to Prime membership) at $3.99 to get PlayBook ASAP
- No tax
- Great customer service
- Amazon's delivery date prediction is more reliable than Bestbuy or staples
- Hassle free return policy (if I later decide to return this and buy a 4g version)
- I get 5% rewards
I am sure many of you here will be getting some or all of the above benefits.
It really makes sense for RIM to have got Amazon as one of their first retailers because-->
1. Amazon is the largest online retailer
2. Amazon carried product descriptions better than most other sites do
3. Amazon user reviews are followed by many buyers, even if they don't end up buying on Amazon. This helps giving lot of visibility to PlayBook.
4. There are huge number of Amazon Prime members out there who prefer to buy most things from Amazon than anywhere else.
I am waiting to see if Amazon will also start taking pre-order in the next few days and eventually ship it to me faster than Staples & BestBuy. In any case if I have to pay sales tax I might as well go to BestBuy on April 19th and get my PlayBook as I don't really trust that BestBuy or Staples will deliver me my PlayBook before April 19th. If I end up ordering it from BB/Staples and they deliver me much later than April 19th, nothing can be more frustrating!03-22-11 11:41 AMLike 0 -

Apple's product can be pre-ordered on Amazon during release. I had actually pre-ordered my first gen iPod touch from Amazon and not from Apple. But I guess Apple has the clout to squeeze the margin of even a big retailer like Amazon. RIM won't be able to do the same.03-22-11 02:34 PMLike 0
