Should I buy BlackBerry PlayBook 32GB or is it outdated now?
- I am writing this from my 16gig Playbook. I enjoy mine more with every use, especially with the Origami browser. I am also using my HDMI cable, makes the Playbook a whole new experience. I use mine as a utility for email, weather, research. Audio, videos, cameras, multi-tasking are excellent, finger gesturing so cool, am experimenting with AV by AOL for video chatting with a web browser. Also the physical construction of the Playbook is excellent. I am not an App Junkie, not using Facebook, Twittef so the sheer quality of the Playbook is what I care about.Superdupont 2_0 and PonyCrazyKid like this.11-18-14 08:20 AMLike 2

HP will no longer support the WebOS store after 2014, so the Touchpad is even more obsolete than the PlayBook.
I found a Kobo Arc 7 HD for $120 CAD at Best Buy and it has 1920x1200 res, much faster processor and full Android OS and Google Play. No back camera and speakers are worse than PlayBook, but no big deal for me.
Hope that helps.11-18-14 08:22 AMLike 0 - I am writing this from my 16gig Playbook. I enjoy mine more with every use, especially with the Origami browser. - To me, it is what you personally get out of the Playbook or any device for that matter. In my reasons above, the Playbook meets + exceeds my requirements very professionally. Your typewriter comparison makes no sense, each to his own.anon(5597702) likes this.11-18-14 01:42 PMLike 1

- Some of the complaints some people have with their Playbooks makes me wonder what all they have going on on them?
I picked up a very gently used 64gb one here in the USA a few weeks ago for $60 USD. It has done almost everything at least as well as the dual core 7" Android 4.3 tablet I recently purchased brand new for my brother-in-law. The ONLY exception that it did NOT do better was in the movie and youtube streaming department. The browser works fine for most stuff. Youtube hiccups but then runs well. Streaming video and audio off my home cloud server (even away from home) works. Internet connection through my Z10 works better than just about every iteration of android connectivity I've seen (watched another student struggle with his Galaxy tablet and phone today... it was pathetic)
SO, for ME, it was a good buy. Granted, I don't have to have "the latest apps" - I need a few things for my tablet to do, and it does pretty much all of them. Would I like it to do more things? Sure - the only gripe I have is not being able to make Teamviewer for android work properly on it... but since it works on my Z10 I'm ok with that. (oops I guess that makes 2 things the new tablet B-i-L has do better - guess I should just go burn my PB in a fiery crash or something... uh, no. )
1 ghz dual core is not very underpowered - especially with having 1 gb of ram available... seriously?Superdupont 2_0 and anon(5597702) like this.11-18-14 11:47 PMLike 2 - That was the point... something can be outdated and old, but still useful to some people.tony morris consulting likes this.11-19-14 07:53 AMLike 1
- Yes you should go for it only if you know how to really use and rework the playbook. It is by far not outdated yes most of you are haters or people dissatisfied that it didn't get a promised BB10 update you are the one that really don't know squat about development so it's a dust gathering brick paperweight to the ones that gave up on this so far ahead of its time qnx device.
But if you know how to really manipulate the PB OS like some of us and have friends that work for Blackberry it can hang with the newest tablets on the market, real PB daily users know what I'm talking about. And just wait for a little Christmas present from BB OS 2.2.1200 should be showing up right before santa clause makes his delivery.
Posted from my one bad arse Playbook 64GB LTE jamming to Spotify and using Skype (beta) while posting this after I decided to register for the first time. I have been visiting this website for years just to read posts but this was the one that cut the cake and I'm just down right tired of people hating on the playbook when they know nothing about the device later posers.Last edited by bbplaybookgod; 11-20-14 at 11:10 AM.

Did you swap a 64gb hard drive into an LTE playbook? That's pretty Damn cool if so.
Powered by Z1011-20-14 10:57 AMLike 0 - Actually yes I have had several 16GB 32GB and 64GB I had to cannabilize my 64gb when it got damaged to the 32GB lol how did you know? That was very difficult to do I would like to add11-20-14 11:16 AMLike 0

- It's being rolled out to a small amount of users. I haven't seen an invite yet, but have wondered if others have received it and tried out the beta web versions. Initially, I believe, it requires a browsers plugin, so not sure how PBgod is using it on the PB. After the plugin requirement goes away, though, it may work (...he said, with cautious optimism).11-20-14 03:13 PMLike 0
- I actually work for Microsoft NOC "network operations center" it has been rolled out to about 5000 developers and a few corporations this is worldwide not just United States exclusive 12 different countries if I remember correctly from the 6 hour training we had about the beta version, keep in mind though its a very early working web based version at this time, it is working with the playbook native browser however chat and voice only works currently the video playback is only working on machines running Microsoft Windows 8 I have been tinkering with my playbook to get video playback but a browser plugin will be required to have video but I personally believe that this issue will be resolved with the next PB OS update sometime before christmas.
*update* With the final official release it may end up not working at all on the blackberry platform only the powers that be will have the final say. Time will tellLast edited by bbplaybookgod; 11-20-14 at 05:06 PM.

Save money.

Looks like another hater has entered the room, do not know what this guy is smoking on but BlackBerry Playbook is by far not outdated updates are coming new bells and whistles for all. Buy it Buy it!! But only if you know how to really use it like some of us do obviously this guy knows jack about development =)11-21-14 02:30 AMLike 0 - Easy there playbookgod. Did I not say "I love my Playbook"? It's a great device but Blackberry discontinued support in April. There are no updates scheduled for the Playbook (that I know of).anon(5597702) likes this.11-21-14 10:52 AMLike 1
- I can't really agree with this. There are times my phone isn't in my bedroom when I'm going to sleep and I want to look something up on the Internet or check email. Instead of lugging out the laptop which always needs a charge and will always take longer than a tablet to boot, I like to pull out my tablet check my email by tapping my email icon on the home screen or going into my browser and quickly look up what I wanted to see. A laptop can sometimes he too big or inconvenient for much simpler tasks.
Computers are very useful when it comes to documents, spreadsheets and so forth but for simple use, they stink.

- It's pretty much abandoned. I'd still pay 50bucks for a 32gb, 30 for a 16gb.
I leave by PlayBook hooked up to my TV. Use my 9900 for bridge remote. Es file explorer on the PlayBook let's me access the media share from my computer and stream media like that.
I also use it to listen to music in the shower and for bbm calls to BlackBerry devices.
It's not completely useless.. but it's not worth more than you'd be willing to waste on fast food in a week
I've been trying to sell my 32GB PB (along with the OEM leather flip-case) with all original accessories/box, etc. on eBay for a while. Listed it for $25 but no bites, so $100 is way too much, if you ask me. Although I think it does depend on what part of the world you're in, and how many others are out there in your area. I agree with the others, though, it's outdated but it CAN be used for media. The speakers on the PB are out of this world, the stereo reproduction from L to R is outstanding, never ceases to amaze me. Way better than the shameful iPad speakers, IMHO. There are no new apps, as far as I can tell but every few weeks there are very minor updates to some of the apps I have installed on mine. Good luck.
