[Rumor] Playbook 2 - 10 inches
- 05-04-2011, 04:08 PM #2
Wow. I was counting on a late June launch for the 9900. I really do not want to wait until August. I hope BGR is wrong.

Wow, more power to you RIM. I am loving my playbook, don't think a 10 inch would be practical for me (unless it got left on the couch). The only annoying thing if this article is true is the delay of the Bold Touch, I'm dying to upgrade and August is too far away.

they were spot on about android apps on the playbook before anyone else. their exclusives are fairly reliable.

Initially, I had size concerns about the Playbook after cross shopping the iPad and at this point, I wouldn't want anything larger. I think it's the perfect size as-is.

its a shame, but it looks like phones are really taking a back seat for the playbook. I really dont see why RIM is neglecting the much needed phone upgrades

Fixed up the title, nothing is near confirmed at this point.

"..It’s entire possibly that RIM wants to play in both segments of the tablet market, and the PlayBook 2 could probably be thought of as an additional PlayBook model as opposed to the second-generation tablet. We have been told this tablet will be in the 10-inch range as opposed to the current model, which sports a 7-inch screen. "
Interesting how they first used the words "possibly" and "probably" and then said "will be" in terms of coming out with a 10-inch screen. These conflicting words make me feel like BGR is purely guessing and has no real idea. Certainly not "confirmation" by any means.Last edited by Rudee66; 05-04-2011 at 04:28 PM.

I hope they don't abandon the seven inch model eventually. The portability aspect is key for me.

Kinda makes you wonder why they can't have the TAT group take over work on the PB now along with the QNX folk. Just involve the BB team when you need to maintain the integration and feel of the applications that are BB branded...
Seems they need a larger or quicker development group.... Wonder if they have job openings for someone to do some of this via a remote office?

Hmmm..... BGR "confirmed" this... RIM not announcing BlackBerry tablet at DevCon today? | BGR

Nice that they wait till the 15th day after launch so we can't return ours and wait for a bigger playbook if we want. (Assuming every place has the same 14 day return policy)

Probably a mistake calling this a Playbook 2. Thats all RIM needs is a new device being hyped just to be a larger Playbook 1.
I absolutely love my PB, but it is quite a shame the new phones are being pushed back. I dont think i can deal with this Storm 2 + ATT data issues until the BB Touch finally comes out.

yes but my initial point still stands, all of their exclusives for as long as I can remember, (2-3 years) of following BGR have been spot on.

Steve Jobs will likely unveil the ipad3, a 7" tablet, along with the claim that 10" tablets are "so last-year". LOL!!!
He'll show how he can stuff the iPad3 into his jeans pocket (reminiscent of the first Mac Air, that fit into an envelope).Dave - Moto Bionic - 05-04-2011, 05:14 PM

i am not nitpicking, if anyone is nitpicking it is you for judging the fact that I am using a blog source to "confirm" a release... does that word really bother you that much? not to mention RIM has also said it will release other form factors. you can call it a rumor but for me it is confirmation enough.

RIM itself thought it was going to release the device in Q4 10 and Q1 11. they dropped the ball not BGR's fault. As for the 8.9 inches, I would not be surprised if that is also coming in the near future.
