So my question is what format does Rovi movies come in when bought and downloaded? Is it proprietary or is it a standard format (like mpeg, or avi)? Also is it protected like iTunes movies?

I don't know if this is allowed here, but I will explain why I am asking this. If it is protected like iTunes movies are, is there a way to rip the format to an unprotected format? This is not about pirating for me, but rather if I buy something like a movie, I like to own it and watch it on any device I own and be able to choose the software I want to watch the movie with.

Now I know I can hook up the PB to a TV or use Rovi software/website for watching on my computer, but I want real freedom when I buy something. Not to be rude, but this is a specific preference of mine (maybe unreasonable this day and age) and rather not get responses "just use the hdmi cable" or "just use the web to stream it".
