RIM told me about update that allows video chat between playbook and BB10 phones
They told me that a new update would come to the PlayBook that allows video chat between playbook and BB10 phones. Later on when the BB10 update comes to the PlayBook there would be a huge surprise, but he didnt tell what was it and he also many new features would be coming to the PlayBook

Guess it makes sense right?
Same underlying core OS at the end of the day... just tailored for a phone instead of a tablet

RIM would be commiting suicide if they didnt allow the phones and PBs to work together.

Will this just be for the BBX, or for BB phones with OS 5.0 and higher? It would be great if the wife's 8330 Curve could have that feature.

I have a question, why did RIM say this to the OP, and not me, or anyone else?

I think you guys should upgrade when BB10 hits the market.
I remember my mom used to tell me this "The more the Devil see the more he want". Skype will come soon and I feel before BB10 drops

December is too long to make playbook anygood, ill of moved on to another tablet because i cant be arsed waiting.
RIM are useless simple as that, by the time BB10 comes out (i will bet my balls that it wont see the light of day this year) that it will be underwhelming compared to whats already out from android and Apple.
ive had enough of waiting for simple everyday features.
i cant even communicate with friends who have phones and tablets apart from that rubbish email or some side loaded apps that only work when you screw around with them, its a joke.Last edited by BackDaws; 05-18-2012 at 09:00 AM.

Agreed, the PB/BB10 handset video connectivity is a given. Looks like the surprise might be skype integration into the video chat app (i.e. no skype app, just integration):
From user QuIcKsIlV3r, posted today http://crackberry.com/blackberry-wou...-they-asked-it
A friend of mine who works at RIM as a Network Engineer who is working on the backend making Skype work with the NOC and they are integrating the contact list (like FB, Twitter and Linkedin)
And from there, it will be integrated into the video chat application. There will NOT be a formal app, but integration into the Playbook, that is why Skype and RIM are tight lipped, because its NOT an app, but an integration into the PB/BB10 contact list and video chat - 05-18-2012, 11:59 AM #24
I hate to say it, but this is more like what RIM really needs. As an example, as much as I love the bridge, it didn't do much for PB sales or increase BB uptake. My opinion, another proprietary utility like PB-to-BB video chat is more likely to keep users away from the platform than attract them. If the big surprise is Skype coming to the platform, then they're onto something good. If it's video-chat integration into BBM, then I'd have to say that new management hasn't learned much from the mistakes of old management.
