While you seem overly fixated on drugs, there are a few points in your post that are simply over the top.
You berate the poster for his apparent lack of a "meaningful response." Help me out here. Stating his opinion that the article's author is guilty of "apple fanboyism" is pretty clear to me and to some extent, I and others here agree. If you want to take things out of context and then make assumptions/accusations about it, you're guilty of being well..ridiculous (and I'm being kind, here).
Perhaps YOU think the Storm 2 screen does not "work well" but as an owner of both the S1 and the S2, I can state that the screens work quite well, especially the 2. I have no problems with the 2's screen. Do you own one or are you simply quoting stuff you've read here? I know, I know..you owned one and got rid of it, right? :: sigh :: Your OPINION that it's "crap" compared to the iPhone or Android carries about as much weight here as air, hot air no less.
If RIM elects to make the tablet tetherable for 3G access, what is wrong with that and what does 3G via a tether have to do with your inability to access AppWorld via WiFi without a data plan?? Sorry, another loser statement that carries zero validity and I'm not even clear on what your point with this is.
The only valid thing you said that actually makes sense is your final statement about the iPad being the "benchmark." Yep, that's true. It was the first to actually popularize the idea and has an obviously very strong following. But that does not mean it's perfect or even near-perfect (c'mon now, NO USB PORTS? WTF?)
The bottom line here is, your post caused me to think "what the **** is HE smoking?" Congrats, what a great job for just your second post on CB.
This is a smart phone, it is JUST a smart phone. If it were meant to be anything more than a smart phone, we would have been issued further instructions on where to go and what to do and computers would have no place in our lives.

Well, I own a Storm 2 and my experience with the touch screen has been very poor and I think others problems with the screen are well documented here and on other sites. When you have to start searching for screws to loosen, I am not sure RIM has delivered a top notch product.
It is great for email. Absolutely worthless for web access. For this reason alone, I personally would avoid their tablet. Maybe their new OS is better, but apparently they at one time thought the Storm2 was ready for prime time also. - 09-27-2010, 09:46 PM #28
I watched the promo video and the "hands on" clip and I still think this will do well. It's being pitched at the enterprise market. Apps are nearly as important as the security that a company can put this tablet under.
Being able to sync with a Blackberry will be a huge win for the PlayBook. Seamless integration to exchange within corporate security standard is huge. Big win here.
This thing will have legs in the enterprise market. Just the fact that it can be deployed in an enterprise fashion, allow for corporate push updates, will be enough for companies to invest.
Apps are important only for the consumer market, most companies actually hate the apps, since they want to boost productivity, not allow for their employees to watch YouTube or play games.
Call me crazy but I think one feature missing is a serial port. Most LCD projectors used in conference rooms still use serial, not that you can't get an adapter, but I don't want to carry around more stuff.
And the non-replaceable battery is a big misstep. I hope they rethink that one prior to launch.
Overall looks promising, might be enough to make enterprises hold off on deploying iPad until launch. - 09-27-2010, 10:00 PM #29
Yep, there were some issues early on, though I never had a problem with the screen portion of my 1 (which is what the poster was referring to) and with the 2, I did experience the "sticking key" issue. Once I had the replacement device with the silicone screen actuators installed, it's as slick and smooth as a baby's ****. Look, LOTS of BB products (actually, ALL brands) have issues with initial releases, this is not unique to RIM. I agree about the "searching for screws to loosen" that was a bit over the top, though I will never understand why some loosened screws, others installed hybrids or updated their OS and still others, like me, simply got the silicone replacement. All of these appeared to work, so that's pretty strange. My point here though, was the poster maligned the entire line with his ridiculous and drug spattered comments and there was no justification or accuracy to the comment.
As for web access, again I have to disagree. Before anyone flips out, I'm not claiming it's great or even acceptable, but again, that's not unique to the Storm, it's a problem all BB users have had for far too long. That being said, I use my S2 to surf the web virtually every single morning, as I wake up with a cup of coffee. I navigate to multiple news sites, both conventional and tech, and it works reasonably well. Certainly room for a lot of improvement, but it's not "worthless" or "unusable" as some claim. If the new tablet were to have the same browser, I'd agree with you, but we all know it won't, so it's not even germane to is point, so not sure why it's being brought up here. There is little doubt their tablet won't have webkit. It would be suicide to do otherwise.

Wish I could say my web experience with Storm2 was comparable to yours. It was so bad that I haven't even attempted to use it in over 3 months. What it could render/load was so slow. Anyway your right that Storm2 web issues are not germane , other than I just don't have confidence in RIM based on my Storm2 experience. I am always willing to be proved wrong though.

Have you ever even tried one of the other Browser's available, like Bolt or Opera Mini? I use Opera Mini and it makes browsing actually useable (and somewhat enjoyable) on my 9530. Yes the native browser sucks, but if you haven't even tried something else to boost your experience, then the onus is on you.

Personally, I never liked either Bolt or Mini, but I know there are some that do. Both involved compromises and weird performance issues. The default browser, when set to "Column View" works best for me. Again, it's not perfect, at times it's painfully slow, but overall, it's the best of the lot for me. For most of the news sites I frequent (msnbc.com; cnn.com; nytimes.com; usatoday.com; etc.) and tech sites, including Gizmodo and CB, it works just fine. Google search also works just fine. It's not blisteringly fast, but it is acceptable!
