RIM prepping BlackBerry Tablet, Storm 3 and 4 - Tested.com
I don't usually comment except when needed, but this site Tested.com has at least SOME recent insight on the successor to our favorite click-magnet, the Storm series (and even some Tablet news.)
EDIT - Can't post the link because of "insuffcient post count"? Hmph, well the article highlights the Surepress as being "perfect" compare to previous versions, the Storm 1 and 2. A quote from the article says that "gaming is also said to be hugely important; apparently, the company is working with EA to have a mobile version of The Sims pre-installed. EA has yet to respond with a statement at this time."
The article also says regarding the Storm 4 that "RIM is also planning to release the Storm 4, some time in 2011. Referred to as an "iPhone killer", the device is said to have an accelerometer, magnetometer — allowing the phone to act as a true compass — 5 Megapixel camera and upgraded GPS internals. Based on the codename of the phone (which our source asked that we not publish), we also speculate that this could lead to an increased focus on augmented reality applications, putting RIM in an ideal position to capitalize on the relatively untapped AR market. Meanwhile, despite the supposedly "perfect" input technology on the Storm 3, it is unknown what sort of Surepress implementation will be used in this device." - 05-10-2010, 08:40 PM #2one of these days see me drivin' round town in my rock 'n' rolls Royce with the sun roof down

Yea no prob, shout out to Scionic for the link!
Back on topic - Rim should make the Storm 3 3G/4G, although 4G won't be here in full force for a while, its forethought that counts. The MAIN problem for BlackBerries IMO is the processing speed. Though that's more of a consumers desire, it can mos def make coporate's world multi-tasking feats blazing fast. 2nd is app memory. I know this horse's been beat to death but dag-nabbit Imma beat it til it comes out the other side of China! RIM just ain't listen, point-blank. It's like their memory department's ear-drum challenged or somethin'! >=/ - 05-10-2010, 09:06 PM #6HTC Titan - WP Mango

Why is it that when it mentions why they can't post the codename of the S4 I think "Storm 3D"?

Awesome. I usually hate touchscreens, but the Storm3 might be my next phone!

Considering the leaked video of the Bold slider shows it with a 5mp camera, I would assume that RIM won't wait until S4. I would bet money that S3 comes with a 5mp camera first.
Taking into account economy of scale it would make sense to buy enough 5mp cameras for the new bold and the upcoming S3. Also I don't think it would make sense to put a 5mp camera in the Bold and only a 3.2mp camera in their flagship device.RIM is dead. Long live BlackBerry! -

Humm, 5MP camera, a compass, and "upgraded GPS" lol... hummm, I dunno about you, but that doesn't spell iPhone Killer to me. lol

LMAO. Storm4 "iPhone Killer in 2011" What are they basing that on? The iPhone 3GS? Wow. Who knows what Apple and Android are going to have in 2011... Don't even attempt to release Storm3, if its not competitive to other touchscreen phones on the market. I'd wait if I was RIM.

Same thoughts. If consumer's their new game, then they need to come harder than that, sadly. RIM needs to @ LEAST meet or exceed whatever Apple/Android can throw @ them, @ least on the hardware front. >_>
EDIT - And the software front, depending on what ya want w/ OS6 - 05-10-2010, 10:31 PM #14

Well, it wasn't the Bold 9000 they were flashing on the big screen at WES during their presentation of the new OS6.
To my way of thinking, any device (non-touchscreen) that isn't expected to make full use of all the features in the fancy new OS6, can hardly be considered the flagship device.
Now that's just my opinion. I have never read/heard RIM refer to the Storm as their flagship line. Maybe we should start a poll

Storm4? Really? I want to see something...anything...on Storm3. Now here's an article that mentions both, then hits me up with "augmented reality" to boot?
Augmented reality. Whatever. This present reality is bad enough; if it gets any kind of a boost, I think I'll throw up. - 05-10-2010, 10:47 PM #17
I'm pretty sure if any touch screen, it will be the Bold Slide. best of both worlds.

Ok man. I do u know what version of google you used. Mine was full of Bold, 9700 and 9650 articles. Not one Storm article. I bet the Bold Slider is the Flagship for this year.
