Default Playbook will not get on.

Ok. Here's the thing. I moved house about 9 days back and didn't have my playbook charging stand so I'd been charging it(in bits I must admit) using the USB cable plugged into my desktop. When it reached the "Turning off Playbook" screen, it took longer than usual to shut off. I found my stand a bit later. But here's the thing. For the past 5 days, it has been off. When I connect it to my desktop, the red LED blinks for about 15-20 seconds and then a green LED blinks about 5-7 times and then it's back off. I need help with this.

Have you tried keeping it plugged in for an extended period of time? Is it possible that it has just discharged too much?

Usually, when the PB discharges too much, it may take an hour or more for the battery to recharge enough for the PB to power up.

You need to do the stacked charging thing. Do a search.

Mine did the same thing a while ago when I put it on the rapid charger and it didn't exactly sit on there correctly and sat uncharged all night.

Finally figured it out after calling RIM. Basically it means your PB is to dead for it to recognize the rapid charger(the OS actually controls charging or so i was told). What you need to do is use the provided plug for a couple hours. Once its got enough charge(at least 10%) you can then use the rapid charger again.

forget about the stacked charging, is just that the battery of they playbook is huge and your desktop doesnt give to your playbook enough energy to charge it, thats why it hasnt turn on, try to find at least a blackberry wallcharger and connect it, thats why it hasnt turn on. dont worry.

You're close if you get the green LED to pulse. You could try a few more times with the PC. Once the green light stops then unplug, wait 30 seconds and try again. If the green light continues to pulse then just leave it until it's a solid green which indicates a full charge. That could take all day with the PC.

I agree with Stuka. I wouldn't bother with any troubleshooting until you get the original charger. I can't say if have an issue or not but charging from the PC may not provide sufficient power to get it going.

I managed to get the playbook wallcharger and plugged it in all night. As soon as I plug it in, the LED goes red for about 15 seconds and then goes off. Still won't get on after a whole night of charging. Is my Playbook filing for divorce?

My son's playbook did the same, he left it dead for a day and the stack charge did the trick for his playbook.

    Try:

"stack" charging, 6 cycles of charge no charge, for 2 minutes each, charging for never more than 2 minutes.

If that fails, hope you have a backup (all data will be lost, apps can be downloaded again) and try the debrick method

    Try the Debrick method....

Perform a backup of your pb if you can using Desktop Manager or, at least, manually coping any unique data, photos, voice recordings, documents, etc.

    1) Turn your playbook OFF by holding down the power button
    2) Let your playbook sit for about 10 minutes as earlier suggested.
    3) After letting the PB sit (and still powered off) open up the Blackberry Desktop Software (the latest version)
    4) Once the Blackberry Desktop Software is opened, use the USB Cable and hook the PB to the PC.. THEN power on the Playbook
    5) A screen will show on your computer showing that the device cannot be found
    6) Click on Update. It will take awhile

    Default PB will not boot.

The exact same thing happened to me. Tried everyhthing, the PB simply would not boot.
Ended up packing it and sending it back to RIM, they fixed it and returned in about a week. What I found troubling was the PB was only 6 months old. In addition I had placed a Ghost Armor screen protector on it to the tune of $55, which was removed when it was repaired. I called support and tried to get some type of compensation for the screen protector but was given the run around. You would think, as poorly as RIM is doing, they would be doing everthing possible to make their customers happy. Disappointing.

This is true. Lithium batteries are easy to damage over charging and letting them to discharge completely. The OS shuts the device down before it is completely drained. A buffer is programmed so you can get it to a charger before it discharges completely.
Thats why when your blackberry smartphone shuts off you canturnit back on then it just shuts back off. When the OS gets the battery reading it shuts back off. A dead battery wont turn on.
    OP try the stack charging.

I did an RMA with my Playbook and in the notifications they send with the box it tells you to remove any additional accessories and to only send the playbook as originally received as they wouldn't guarantee you would get your accessories back, especially if they decided your playbook wasn't repairable and sent you a new one.

Just think how many people could call and claim lost items? It wouldn't be cost effective for RIM, although I know if must be a real pain to have lost your screen protector.

GREAT. Leave it charging until it shows the PLUG and not just the Lightning Bolt.

Try not using it as the ac adapter and/or usb (to computer) does not provide a lot of power if in use.
