Playbook WiFi won't connect on channels 12 and 13?

Wondering why the Playbook WiFi won't connect on channels 12 and 13. I've heard around the web that in the US those channels are prohibited by the FCC, but that information is false.

My two Netgear routers use channels 12 and 13, my brand new HP Envy laptop uses channels 12 and 13, the new PCIe desktop wifi card uses 12 and 13, my Asus netbook uses 12 and 13. Everything uses 12 and 13 but the Playbook.

channel 12 and 13 are transmit power limited or low powered in North America. so maybe your Playbook skips those channels because of the weakness of the signal to save Battery power ?

No idea why, but I've come across plenty of laptops that just would not connect on those channels.

If you can change the settings on your router, then do so. It's easy to do and should make no difference to you.

That is true, but I can't imagine a consumer device exceeding those FCC Tx power limits.

If you can change the settings on your router, then do so. It's easy to do and should make no difference to you.

The issue is that channel 13 has the least amount of interference in my area. Whereas the lower end of the spectrum does.

Guess I don't have much of a choice.
