Having tested the Playbook with multiple wireless access points, it has not established a full G nor a full N connection.

This not only bottlenecks internet access for some but the transfer of files between internal network devices.

So, if you have established a wireless connection rate, with the PB, that is not listed on the poll, please post a screenshot.

    Thx all.

Edit: Solution for wireless G found by another Crackberry user in a different thread: ensure basic connection rate value is set to All on your router configuration. No solution for wireless N using same method.

how do you even find your wireless connection rate?? is it hidden in the playbook somehow?

Connection rate is found via the question mark icon on the bottom-left of the wifi menu, then choosing the wifi information drop-down menu.

Wireless N is still stuck at 11 Mbps using same method, however.

Wireless G at 11mbps, which is fast enough based on my capped internet plan of 10 mbps download.

mine says 11mbs in bottom left of screen but speedtest.net got 14.51mbs. I'm using wireless n but my provider provides around 15mbs so the playbook matches what my wired desktop is getting.

Apply the fix by changing the basic connection rate in your router to All and see if you get any boost. 24 Mbps bottlenecked this test connection by about 5 Mbps on Speedtest.net.

I have a 5 times faster than dial-up Internet connection from a cable provider which produces a test result of 1.48 Mbps download and 0.17 Mbps upload rate. The other Internet connection from a wireless carrier which produces a test result of 6.48 Mbps download and 0.32 Mbps upload. Both of these tests were conducted using a WiFi connection to the respective WiFi AP (router) from a BlackBerry PlayBook running BBPBOS 1.0.8. With either connection the tablet rarely has difficulty and if there is an issue it can typically be traced back to the website.

I wasn't able to find the "connection rate" settings that you suggested in my router setup page. Also, I wanted to clarify that my d/l speed is not capped per se, but the rated speed of my internet plan; which does blip at a higher rate most of the time.
I ran a test and got close to 14 mbps d/l speed, even though my PB's connection data rate is 11 mbps.

What does this really matter? Mine is G/N @ 11Mbps, yet Ive got speeds of 35Mbps on Speedtest.net before.

I've tried multiple settings on my dual band Cisco/Dlink E3000 router:

Usually the Wi-Fi information shows 11mbps connection speed on G
Sometimes it shows 24mbps on A
I have been unable to ever get it to show N, even when setting both 2.4 and 5 channels on the router to N Only. Looks like the PlayBook negotiates back to G, or is displaying information incorrectly.

Whenever I have the 24mbps A connection, Speedtest.net results are terrible. Whenever I have 11mbps on G, Speedtest.net shows my typical download rate of 10-15mbps, upload of around 1.5 to 2 mbps.

I'm not sure if the PlayBook Wifi Information means very much for me, except to never set the router to use "A".

Obviously the playbook reports it wrong. Otherwise when it tells me I'm connected at 11mbps and a speed test tells me that I have 20mbps download and 2.5mbps uploads would be insane.

Isn't this the current instantaneous rate rather than averaged over time? It will vary depending on placement, range and location no?

    speedtest.net results:

since the update i can now sit on my deck and easily retain wifi connectivity, so at least it still works. i've never seen it connect as n...

on your playbook, hold the volume up and volume down buttons at the same time. you'll hear the camera 'shutter' noise. go into your pictures and it'll be there somewhere.

to edit and cover your mac address and such you can do one of several things. 1) if you have touchup pro on your playbook you can use the 'blemish' tool to blur out your mac address. use the biggest circle and just put a bunch of them all over whatever it is you want to hide. then upload to your hosting site. 2) open the file in paint (if you have a windows computer). get it to your computer through either through wifi sharing, usb, emailing it to yourself, whatever. and then just draw anything over what you want gone. then upload. 3) if you use photobucket to host your pictures, just upload the picture to your account and in the 'edit photo' mode you can draw a box or use the marker/pen/brush/whatever it is, over what you want hidden
