Playbook very slow
Hello all,
I got the playbook before the OS 2.0 update and loved it, now that I have email and everything else I love it even more, but its slowed down significantly since I first got it. Is that because of android player? Anyone know how to get around it? Should I reboot and reinstall everything?

how often do you reboot?

Since OS2, the PB has gotten slower in booting up--and now hangs about half the time. I assume RIM will be releasing an update with bug fixes for this, but wish it would hurry.

mine is slightly slower in terms of screen response and overall performance...pages take longer to load. key presses also take longer (biggest difference by far)...sometimes i'll press a key several times thinking it didn't read my press and then it will input it several times seconds later...i don't reboot often (if at all) but i did a few days ago thinking it needed it (bootup also took longer than usual) ...and it still the same... not that big of a deal but i would like to find some type of solution before it gets worse.

Same issues here. Try watching vídeos wile running any android app and it will lag... Close the Android app and everything will get normal again... Ergo the problem is.. running android, this is one more bug we desperately need fixed ... When shall we receive the next OS update? Only God knows... Just I feel deceived by RIM.

Ironically, I got along quite well with the Beta OS2; worked for my purposes and none of the Android app crashing (Kindle app) or the hanging I now experience sometimes on bootup. I'm using the same apps, so am pretty sure it's just the "released" OS2 that is the problem. I tried a security wipe and re-install, but no luck. Does anyone know a way to roll back to the Beta OS2?

Beta ended up better than the official release? Ouch.
Having the best of both worlds would make the PB amazing in my mind. I love the email and keyboard and even the android player to some extent, but I can't stand the slow operation and instability. I don't like a software that hardware can't support. I don't know if that is the case or it is just weak software bet If it weren't for email and they keyboard, I'd wish I was back on OS1.GIT-R-DONE - 03-29-2012, 09:51 PM #9
Yes, as I recall Beta 2.0 was a lot better than 2.0 release. Things are generally sluggish now, that's the best way to describe it. Other than native PIM and print to go, there aren't much that 2.0 release offers (over 2.0 beta) unfortunately. If anything, things went downhill, just look at browser issue everyone's reporting. With many on this forum claiming PB browser is all you need, there's a serious problem with OS 2.0 release. RIM better get these sorted out fast...

Sorry I wasn't more clear, the os as well as the apps and the responsiveness of the device in general was severely lagging and slow. Even within the browser things took forever to load that didn't before. Not sure what was going on so I did a factory reset, we'll see what happens
