I fired up the playbook after several months of hibernation (I've been using a N7) for our weekend beach trip.

Last night the kids watched the movie Epic on it on the way down with a Bluetooth connection to the car and it basically sounded like a THX theater the whole way.

I just hooked it up to the flat screen via HDMI so they could and play some Plants vs Zombies on the big screen.

As soon as it popped up on screen they all four in unison said "Cool!"

Four of them are now working on lawn mowing zombies as a team.

    The point if this post?

I was just reminded that this is still a great device that is so easy and effortless to use for so many different situations.

So even though the support is no longer there, the apps are what they are, I still love the OS, the hardware, and the versatility.

A great testimony "It still works".

About as much as I can say for mine.

I still use mine daily. I love browsing the web on it, even if it's a bit slower than my Z10. It's the perfect size, and is great for multimedia.

I just got a Win 8 RT tablet, but I'm finding that for certain stuff I'd still rather use my PlayBook. It's more portable, for one thing, and the Origami Browser honestly gave the device a new lease on life.

Note that new apps ARE still being released; any new app for BB10 gets evaluated to see if it will run on the PlayBook as well. If it does, it goes in the catalog.

I did not realize that there are still new apps flowing in for the PlayBook. I figured the app selection was as is. Thanks for the info.

I didn't quite understand those who got the Z10 and said they never use the Playbook anymore. Whenever I have it around I frequently use the "Open On Playbook" option to view files, images, attachments etc. as the Z10 screen is still too small to comfortably view most things. PlayBook - BB10 file access still works fine which I use to open documents I have saved on my phone.

Couldn't agree more - we have just got Windows tablets at work - and the PlayBook is so much easier to use.... (and easier to carry around too)

I use my PB daily for browsing, as a media player (YouTube) through HDMI + Bridge Remote. Also, I still think it's the best option for work storing all my excel price lists, PDF catalogs, product images (files and folders app), swiping from one Window to another is still impressively superior to anything else I've seen IMO! Oh and Battery life still quite great after 2+ years! Wow!

please the win Surface RT blows the playbook out of the water in every way! also the RT has FULL IE10 and is smooth and 10x faster than Origami...

so much easier how?! please educate the rest of us... the RT is 90% computer usage, but with out the legacy apps and like I've said up top, it is 10X faster than the PB.

I was waiting to see what would happen with BB10 and the PlayBook. Love my PlayBook but going to have to buy a Acer small machine. It's a shame the PlayBook gets no love.

trust me, no one wanted to see this devcice get OS10 more than I did! I even made several wallpapers dedicated to OS10 in anticipation of OS10, but then BB gave us all the shaft and LIED to us so they could promote the Z10 when it was coming out... they even boasted that the Z10 was gonna have full Bridge capabilities and then pulled the bait and switch! sorry but sh!t like that doesn't fly with me! a company that can be so blatant dishonest that I would never touch a BB device again...ever! I was even going to get the Z10 to compliment my PB when it came out, and I'm so glad I waited to see how things would fall in place. now I sold BOTH my PB's and bought a Surface RT tablet, and am I ever glad I did! this tablet is so fun and easy to use that I can honestly say that I don't look back (or regret) on the PB anymore! but the funny thing is, the RT reminds me of the playbook so much as in it gets bashed by the icrapple and android fanboys just like the playbook used to! all the misconceptions and lies that have been posted on the internet is just mind blowing! LOL this device is the Best quality and design that I have ever had the pleasure of owning! even the keyboard is brilliantly designed and implemented! now I enjoy making wallpapers for my RT and share them on the Surface forum...

not trying to hard sell anything, just telling it like it is, and I'm not trying to make you cross over if you wanna stick with the PB then that's YOUR prerogative...but the way I feel is that there is better tablets out there that DESERVE your attention.

Mine is a superpowered digital comic reader, used for email/ebay/facebook and video streaming occasionally. It was well worth the $60 I paid. That is really the big story, the fact that you can get such a superpowered tablet for so cheap since it has "failed".

Did you try contacting bb? In SOME cases they have fixed the camera issue even when the warranty had expired. No promises.

The PB has a one year warranty to the original purchaser. It also has 90 free Tech support. I do not know how Rim deals with "quasi-tech support v. warranty"
