Default Playbook Screen upper left hand corner Red

I love my playbook. Just bought it 1 week ago. But after using it for a while, the upper left hand corner turns red. Just that corner. But after clicking the right hand corner where the control panel is located the red on the left side disappears. This happens all the time.

I'm wondering if this means I have a defective device or if it's just a software glitch eventually to be resolved.

    Please advise.

You have a notification.. Usually updates to your apps and stuff.. click on the notification and it will disappear..

You either have a new email, event that's due, an update for some app you purchased. Usually in that upper left hand corner will be the items that are new.

Don't worry about it...until you know, you don't know. We've all been there. I still manage to come up with obvious ones

The question occurs periodically. I believe it is covered in the Newbie Sticky at the top of this forum.

It is such a unique notification system but terrifically subtle. I've always liked it.

Yep it's the "glow" notification that can be turned on or off in:-
    1) settings. (Swipe down in home screen)
    2) tap sounds and notifications
    3) select visual notifications.

Wham! Choose what you want the PB to do.

Lol many people experience this (surprisingly). It was really obvious what it was to me... But anyway, I'm glad you enjoy your PB, and don't be a stranger around here. These forums are a great place to further discover your BB products.

So yeah, don't worry, it won't explode

LOL! It is a little disconcerting the first time you see it. The Playbook can take a little getting used to. Enjoy!

Right, except you actually CANNOT turn off notifications all together. BB users are awesome for utilizing the LED on their phones and everything, but sometimes I just want to play a game or browse the web without being bombarded with notifications.

Also, if I can't use App World on Bridge then why does it need to notify of app updates when I can't even get them?

I had the same issue when I first got my PB.

Thankfully the folks here showed me the light.

    Enjoy your PlayBook.

I really like the "glow" notification.
I found the LED to be too bright and annoying so was happy to configure the LED off and just have the "glow".
