PlayBook OS 2.1? Where are you?
Is it just me or has os 2.1 just vanished. I havent read even a tiny bit of news in weeks. Since the latest beta, there has been nothing at all. Is 2.1 still going to happen?

I don't think we will be getting 2.1. With all the discounted playbooks here in the uk i think they are just dumping stocks.
Hope i am wrong but we will see.Cloud Storage

Pretty sure when someone knows for sure when 2.1 is being released it is going to be plastered in BOLD letters on the CrackBerry frontpage..
Till then any number of "Where is 2.1 release?" Will have the same answer as the previous 50 posts.. "No ones.."
So Forum search is a better option
Well the Playbook 4G has been released.. Don't think they will let it go this soon.. - 09-02-2012, 04:54 PM #7
And so it was.
there will be none.
Just download the 'beta'
And consider it/you done.
Get over it. The playbook is a (now) good value 7in tablet with a slightly buggy OS.
I'm not best pleased about rim's "wall of silence / bollocks to them" approach to their customer base, nor am I pleased to see the PB drop by a hundred quid just over a few months since buying it. (which I only did on the promise of the imminent os fix).

It does get old buying RIM products and not getting the support needed.
Past performance is indicative of future performance.

Im currently using the beta. I am still experiencing bugs though and they are extremely annoying. Such as te one where the browser freezes all the time. Really annoying! Come on RIM!

freezing..? you certainly arent using the latest dev os (2.1.0.840).. its running very fast and smooth and the battery life dramatically increased compared to the previous dev os
. if i where you i would try and see if there is an upgrade available, you'll need to register your PB first in order to be able to see it on your playbook. Goodluck!

I have yet to experience any of these so called bugs. I am running 2.1 beta and it works very well I for one don't really care if 2.1 officially gets released would much rather bb10 gets done so I can be entertained reading all the supposed problems with it.
Don't let me down CrackBerry nation keep the whining coming!!!!!

RIM has been behind on updates from the day the PlayBook came out,but every update they said would come out has come out. No reason to stop believing,no news doesn't mean bad news.

The .840 beta of OS2.1 has been the best version for me so far. Very stable my PB loves it! Not sure why they can not just "gold" certify it and update bridge to bring SMS. Doneski. The wait for BB10 is tolerable.

i think the argument for 2.1 is certainly pointless since it will be an interim, piecemeal update while the real thing is BB10.
in the next 3 months or so RIM will concentrate on BB10 and on BB10 only. PB OS is just a beta until it has BB10. - 09-02-2012, 10:49 PM #25
I think everyday that passes reduces the chances that we'll see 2.1. It's like 4 months before BB10 launches so what would be the point? By the time we start playing and getting used to the features of 2.1, the UI and features are going to change again with BB10. RIM probably figures if we can wait for BB10 phones, why not BB10 on the PB? I would actually be ok with that if RIM just came out and said it instead of being quiet about it...
