Playbook and HDMI cable
Hi, I picked up a micro hdmi cable today. If I remove the hdmi coming from my 5.1 receiver on the TV and plug in the PB hdmi, I see the PB immediately. See it fine. Problem is I have only the sound from the TV speakers coming through. Is there a way I can make use of my 5.1 receiver & speakers? Or is the TV speakers all I can get?
If I plug the PB into other hdmi ports in the TV I get nothing even if I change inputs on TV.

Do you have any HDMI input ports in 5.1 receiver? If so you just need to plug in the HDMI from playbook to there and you will get sound from 5.1 speakers.

I'm not clear but you'd have to try getting the hdmi out from the pb into the receiver and then the tv??
What kind of tv? Some folks have had to tweak settings on, I think Samsung tv's. I don't recall the setting.
Whatever happens UP there, be aware that some of the games do NOT output sound to the hdmi port and sound remains only on the pb. Obviously a coding deficiency. - 05-12-2012, 05:41 PM

I did'nt have an open hdmi port. I used my bluray port for time being. Van Halen sounds great in 5.1!!! But due to configuration getting behind TV, components is a hassle. I'll use TV speaker unless watching a movie on PB
Thanks alot!Bold 9900

Hey F2, thanks for getting back. I thought I had an open hdmi port on my receiver. I used my blurray and put in my PB. I saw the playbook on my Sharp 46" and it came in 5.1 sound. But due to configuration back there and only a 6' hdmi
I'll use the TV speakers unless I want to see a movie on PB in 5.1.

Yes, my "system" other than the tv is located in a fairly tight closed cabinet and getting stuff plugged in/out is not easy. Complicating is an IR relay system with thin cables and emitters taped to the IR receivers on the various units. Like a spider web. I do have an hdmi switch box with remote with the tv across the room connected via a longish hdmi cable into the wall, across the basement ceiling and into another wall!

I connect to my Toshiba tv with its audio out to audio system. TV is also PC monitor which also inputs audio to tv then to audio system. Tv remote selects input which switches a/v together.

I think all of my hdmi cables are from monoprice. My remote control hdmi switch box is also from them.

Hi Stark 4, I was anxious to get the hdmi cable. So did'nt order it from monoprice or ebay. Got a Rocket Fish brand @ 6' from Best Buy. That cable is 10 bucks more here in Canada than the US + 13% tax!
