    I need some feedback:

I made up a quick cost analysis of buying a PlayBook through Best Buy or through an online retailer like Amazon.com or eBay.com and came up with this:

    Best Buy /Non-Brand
    16 GB 499.99 /400.99
    Warranty 118.8 / 0
    With Tax 539.9892 / 433.0692
    RIM Deal -100 / 0
    Case 26.9892 /26.9892
    Total 585.7784 /460.0584

difference: 125.72 (no warranty or rebate)

    32gb 599.99 /499.99
    Warranty 118.8 / 0
    Tax 647.9892 /539.9892
    RIM Deal -100 / 0
    Converter case 26.9892 /26.9892
    Total 693.7784 /566.9784

difference: 126.8 (no warranty or rebate)

I want to know what you guys would do. I would spend some more money going through a Best Buy, but I would get a year-long warranty. Is the warranty worth the $125?

    Feedback please.

??? amazon or ebay should not have tax....

Also, fyi manufactured products that are purchased new from retailers carry manufacturer warranties anyhow. The only difference is you can't just bring it in to a brick store and swap it out.

The 1 year warranty isn't worth that when you can get a 3 year from Squaretrade.com for roughly $106...

    Hope this helps!

Did you know that store warrenties are pure gold to them? The cost for them is very low, the cost to you is very high. I think you need to research what a 'Risk Factor' is and then calculate that into your descion. For example if the company I work for is buying new laptops I have to look at the team that is going to be using them. If they are executives the standard one year manu. warrenty is good. Exces mostly sit at a desk all day, and when they travel they often are very gental on their laptops. Now if it is for an out-side sales team, real road worriers, then I am going to pay a bit more for a three year manufacturer warrenty. Hinges, keypads, touchpads, harddisks all are likely to fail at a much higher rate due to the daily abuse they will get.

So, what you are buying from the store for 125 dollars is not a warrenty but a gamble that you are going to break the device in that time-frame. So ask your-self are you tough and a bit reckless on devices or do you baby them and take care of them well. Me, my electronics look as new the day I am done with them as the day I purchased them so I never toss away money on store warranties. 125 dollars is a big percent jump on the total cost of ownership.

Keep in mind the cost for stores to run these programs is very low as the risk of actually having to pay out is low. Oversly the cost to you is significant and the risk of not using the program is very high. Do the math, what is the percent of cost the program is going to cost you, is you house or car insured at that percent? Your best ratio is the 64 Gig, $118 on $600 is a 20 percent pick-up on cost before tax.

Based upon your analysis I would conclude that the 32gb playbook is more expensive than the 16gb.

Personally i went with PB 32 GB, because the playbook doesnt have a MicroSD slot or at the moment doesn't support USB Host for things such as mass-storage or using a card reader. Its easier to just pay the extra now and get the needed space then to have to go and try upgrade later. But it all depends on how you intend to to use your playbook. If your going to fill it up with music and movies, i would definitley suggest the 32 GB. All up to you and your needs buddy.
