Lightbulb PlayBook 4G Certified for Mobile Network Operators TODAY!(7/9/12)

Found PlayBook on PTCRB as having been certified today for compliance with mobile networks in NA. Looks like it is one step closer to reality, for those who are still interested at least.

Check their home page. They test all current technology including GMS, UMTS, and LTE.

Verizon doesnt have UMTS in the US?

You would need to look at LTE for them.

I wouldn't take this as an indication that it will be released soon. Look through the lists of certified products I am sure there are many that never actually came to market

Verizon does not seem very hot on BB brand these days. I hope it comes back to bite them!

I don't know what a release of a 4G Playbook is going to get for RIM at this time. I see a lot of other tablets out thereall going for 199 or 299. Dont see it selling well and the headlines being "RIM flops again". I hope it does but I wouldnt bet the farm on it. I would love to have one. I am pretty happy with my 2 WIFI ones. Dont think i need another carrier bill.

I think the point of the PlayBook 4G (used so often I think its officially the "unofficial" name for it ) is probably to get those buyers who took a look at the PlayBook and decided it wasn't worth their time because there was no mobile network support.

Based on what I've asked people in different markets, the PlayBook 4G is actually much more enticing than the original PlayBook.

I don't think RIM will sell a ridiculous number of PlayBook 4G's but I also don't think it'll be a complete and total sales flop.
