    Hey Guys,

I just want to warn you about a phishing email that I got after pre-ordering a PlayBook from Staples.ca:

The content doesn't look like phishing, and a quick google search on the phone number quoted shows it appearing on a number of genuine Staples pages. You may find this is a genuine email.

Here's the initial confirmation email address:

    [email protected]

And this is the email address that replied to me:

    [email protected]

EDIT: There seems to be another thread up about this:

Do NOT respond to the email unless you are certain it's legit. Do NOT call the number, even though it may be good.

I would do the online chat thing or look up the number for Staples.ca customer support and contact them that way.

They can tell you for certain if the email is legit. If so, THEN respond as requested.

    Better safe than sorry.

    Okay,

I called the number, because I found the same number listed on their website (as pointed out by Branta):

    http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Static/sta...?pagename=easy

When I got in contact with a customer service representative, I gave her my Order number, and she pulled up my information. It's legit.

Apparently, the address that I had given, isn't the same address that's on my CC. I had to sort that stuff out, and they said they'll contact me if there are any other issues.

Oh well, better look foolish than sorry.

Also, the customer care rep. did not have a Nigerian accent .......Is that racist?

Happened to me too.. called the number and spoke to someone from Staples and confirmed my info. Also found out that "they can't release it (the PlayBook) until April 19th".

At least the guy knows his stuff..

Yeah, I pre-ordered because of the $50 coupon, otherwise, I would rather wait for the reviews.

Glad to hear you got things sorted out!

Maybe helpful for consumers who may have the same issue when ordering.

Yeah, I got the same email after my confirmation email, same deal, my name on my Staples account did not match the name on the CC info, I called the number, definately legit. Thats also when I found out the real shipping dates too. Staples is very professional and I had no problems with the CS rep on the phone. It was an honest mistake on my part when entering in my info to create an account to do the pre-order. Its nice to see that the system is very thorough and checks the info carefully before finalizing the order.

It should have been blatantly obvious this wasn't a phishing email when nothing in the body of the email mentioned Nigeria and someone wanting you to buy a PB with a check for $5000 and send them back the change.
