On Windows computers with 4-6 gigs of RAM, running Firefox, I can open over 50 web pages/tabs simultaneously and not have memory problems for a few hours.

The PB and its one gig of RAM goes woefully low on memory after activating 5-6 tabs on the stock web browser and other browsers I have tried.

Is the PB inefficient in this area or am I missing something?

it is a little weak in that area but getting better. RIM is still tweaking things in the OS to optimize usage

I also find that webkit on mobile device work a bit differently. Even chrome on Ice Cream Sandwich struggles with a lot of tabs (and tabs are forced to reload) on my Amaze, which has similar spec's to the PlayBook (dual-core 1.5 ghz and 1gb RAM).

Did you happen to update to 2.1.0.840 beta? I was on 2.1.0.540 beta and i felt it was really smooth, but after the update to 2.1.0.840, i felt it hogged more memory.

I'm at the .840 beta. Altho the browsers I use (the stock and SimpleBrowser) appear to be crashing with greater frequency with this beta, I recently replaced the wireless router I mostly use with the PB and I have yet to sufficiently familiarize myself with the new router's settings. Still researching this area.
