PB Sudden Battery Drain
Hi guys, I know there's a ton of threads regarding battery drain issues, but I want to get your opinion.
Two days ago my battery begun to drain pretty fast, so I did some research and found the hotmail issue but I don't think it has helped me. I run OS version 2.1.0.1314
I installed Battery Guru to monitor it, here's some info:

The only program running is battery guru, nothing else, WIFI is on (I always have it on), and at around 23:36 I changed my email update time from 15 min to 1 hr. Who can tell me how to interpret this info?
At the moment, looking at the graph int the program, the consumption (black graph) is around 1.8, and the battery is at 78%. the time is 12:45 am
The last apps I installed are:
Flightaware
eventseekr
Ticetmaster
Cooklet
Battery Guru
Quick App Manger
Gonna go try removing hotmail and see what happens.
I'll wait for your comments.
PD sorry about the info not been too legible, I did use spaces but I guess it didn't work.Last edited by blakviper; 02-09-2013 at 01:58 AM.

ok, it's 2:17 am (Phoenix) and it has 74% on the bat. So that makes it about 2:40 hrs, that makes it about 9% bettery drain, is that considered normal or is it still high?

Just installed battery guru to see what's going on with mine (just interested). Only think I noted was that I have recharged the battery 14 times, and already.. it's apparently got 91% health. lol, wtf? Not bad for a brand new device :-( (I really don't think that's accurate ;-) )

Re: PB Sudden Battery Drain
OP: In your Battery Guru post the power usage dropped considerably when you say you changed your email notification. Since the power was reported at 0.146 watts assume you were in standby. This is not unusual value. If I go into standby in airplane mode with only Battery Guru running I can get as low as 0.04 watts. Suggest you try this. After you go into standby wait a couple of minutes to let BG get the new reading and swipe the screen back on to check. Repeat a couple of times to be sure you have the correct reading.

Re: PB Sudden Battery Drain
OP: Does Advanced App Manager give you any info on apps which are operating in the background? Any app which you have authorized (maybe by default) to send you notifications may try to use your wifi frequently even with wifi off.

According to Peter Hansen, the author of Battery Guru, it's not unusual to see a brand-new battery with less than 100% health. I installed Battery Guru after a year of use, and about 275 recharge cycles. Health was 86% on install. Now, some 125 recharge cycles later, health fluctuates between 84 and 85%. My other PB, bought almost a year ago, has had only 5 recharge cycles...and its battery shows at 100%. Just lucky, I guess.

Hi guys, so it's 7:56 pm (Phoenix), I did disconnect the PB at 9:00 am (more less) and I have 88% battery life, I gues it was solved, it was either the mail settings, or one of the programs I installed lately.
Also WIFI has been on all day.
Thanks for your advice.... - 02-09-2013, 10:54 PM #13
It probably is accurate, although generally we should wait closer to 30-40 cycles before concluding it's stable and valid. Although... that was how it was back in the day -- maybe with the latest versions it calibrates better, faster.
If you want to confirm it, you can do the "drain test" (Battery health) and calculate the exact health yourself. You basically measure actual watt-hours provided (average power times time for a full drain) then divide that by 20Wh (the nominal value for 100% health). With 91% health, you might have (for example) 1.8W average drain over 10.1 hours. 1.8W times 10.1h is 18.18Wh, so 18.18/20 = 90.9%.Battery Guru for BB10 tracks voltage, power, battery health. (Also on the PlayBook.) White Noise helps you sleep or concentrate.

Re: PB Sudden Battery Drain
try reinstalling the apps or email one at a time and see if it comes back. I'm leaning towards one of the apps. same thing happened on my gfs pb. now I'm always wary of which apps I install, especially if its a poorly written android port.
