PB Otterbox
Will the otterbox for the PB cause the PB to over heat since it's basically enclosed? With prolong use of course.

No it will not cause it to over heat. The otterbox case for the playbook is awesome. Worth every cent, they should come as standard equipment with every playbook sold.

The OB Defender is worth it. While it adds bulk and when considering how much they cost, you will want to get one. There are no issues with overheating. Mine sits on my desk at work all day with no problems.

It's still on sale at Costco.ca until Dec4th if you want one at a good price.

The OtterBox rocks.
I have all of my BB (phones and tablets) wrapped in Otterbox cases.
The are the best and their customer support, if ever needed is second to none.Jeff - 12-03-2011, 10:23 AM #7
No, the PlayBook won't overheat in the Otterbox. Hands down the Otterbox is the best all around protection for the PlayBook. It adds weight and bulk, but well worth it in case of a mishap. I use Otterbox for all my Blackberry devices. Otterbox gives me a piece of mind with ultimate protection

Another big endorsement here for the Otterbox case for Playbook. It is a bit bulky, and I don't leave it on all the time because of that, but when I'm traveling or going on an outdoor adventure I always have my Playbook protected in the Otterbox case. Never seen, or even heard of, an issue with overheating..

Yet another Otterbox supporter here. I've had my PB wrapped in Otter since day 1 and have yet to get even a tiny scratch on the PB. I have thrown this thing in and out of my briefcase since I bought it in April with no worries whatsoever. However, I do think the mild heat caused by the PB has affected the molding of the rubber on the back of the casing. I say this because when I'm holding it so that the back is facing the ground, I notice there is a slight drop in the molding whereas it is not snug against the PB as it was when I originally bought it. Hardly noticeable though and not a reason to avoid buying it at all. One other small issue I have is with the headphone jack cover. Holy goodness is that thing hard to take out! But, I'd rather have that then a dangling cover so, I won't complain..
I'd put the Otterbox up against any of the other cases/screen protectors any day.

I completely agree, never had a Blackberry without an Otterbox and it has saved me dozens of times.
The only thing I did with my Defender for PB is remove the screen cover. I then put on a Anti-Fingerprint screen protector from SGP and it's set for life. My PlayBook goes everywhere with me. I usually wear cargo pants and even with the Otterbox on it, it still fits in the pockets without any problem. A bit sticky taking it out with the rubber coating but it's better than having it falling on the ground without a cover and getting scratched.
I haven't noticed any difference in the cover with heat.

Cool thanks for the response guys! I had already bought one, but I was just worried about it getting too hot inside it. And I also love mine! I was thinking of getting one the portfolio type cases but my friend convinced me in getting a OB. I was never a fan of the OB on BB phones, especially on the torch. But OB on the PB is just great! I may remove the screen protector in the near future after it gets too scratched up. Maybe a ghost armor one. But for $40!!! Idk.
