So the people that have the new os7 devices have you seen any improvements using bridge features ie browsing or bbm. Also is anyone using phone remote and do you see any improvements with that. Just looking to see what I can expect when I upgrade from my storm 2 later this month.
Most people have said that they noticed a massive improvement with the 9900 and bridge usage. I believe them after having loaded a hybrid with some OS7 files in it on my 9700.
Honestly it flies now, completely usable with no lag whatsoever. I actually created a thread on this because I was blown away at the difference in speed and usability. RIM should take a look at the cocktail of CODs in that build and release an OS for us PlayBook users.
Also, FWIW, Phone Remote came to life after this update as well. MUCH faster updates and the screen refreshes at least once a second now. Was quite happy this benefited this application as well, so it seems they've made some lower level communication changes in OS7 that allow these apps to work much more quickly.
+1 for me. Bridged to my 9900 is lightning fast now. I never used the bridge browser before because it was slow, now I use it and the speed is nice and quick and usable.
i have the 9810 and a Playbook as my only devices, meaning i use the Playbook as a replacement of a laptop. why am i saying this? because i primarily use the bridge feature due to my 9810 being my only modem for connectivity to the internet via H+. anyways, long story short = the bridge browser is only slightly more reliable and only slightly faster. one awesome thing i did notice, is how the bridge "locks" a lot less compared to when i used the 9800. when i used the 9800, the bridge connection would lock up approximately every 30 to 45 minutes.
i love this combo so much (9810 and a PB) - BlackBerry pwns, lol
Thanks for the quick responses. Was leaning towards the torch touch but might seriously consider the bold and not have 2 touch screen devices. Plus once they launch the android app have all my games and multimedia on the pb and keep the phone clean without useless apps.
