Does anyone know whether RIM has ever considered building in a way to receive over-the-air television (and, I guess, radio) signals on the PlayBook? Or (2) whether software can use the existing antenna to do that? Or (3) whether there are third-party peripherals in the pipeline to fit onto the PlayBook?
Paired with a PVR-type app, that would be awesome. I know there are devices like the Slingbox and Vulkano out there that do place-shifting. But it would be amazing to be able to use the PB to pull in real-time HD television signals off the air, anytime and anywhere, without incurring any data charges.
One of your questions is basically: Does the PlayBook have 'Software Defined Radio' (SDR) technology such that it could be reprogrammed to receive other types of signals?
