Just the last week or so the notifications sounds on my Playbook mysteriously changed. Instead of the chimes, I now have this dreadful horror film like sounds, like a banshee. No idea what changed them, though one of my cats will walk/lie on it. Can't find any way to change notification sounds for email. I guess I'll back up/ restore to original settings if nothing else. What a pain.

Backed it up, restored and it's back to normal. I should have recorded the awful sound. I think it was related to the email. I don't really have any apps other than Drudge and some weather apps all have been on it for over a year. Wish I knew how to change the sounds, it would be nice to select a different sound for different email accounts.

hmmmmm, sounds weird.... im glad its working again after a backup and restore!

and i feel he same way with changing the sounds!.... but im guessing there will more variation and options with bb10!i too am looking forward to the customisation

Any android app has about a dozen different sound options for notifications. You can go into Android settings next time and switch them to silent.
