NFC PlayBook
Hey guys, just a quick question about NFC on the PlayBook. I was searching the BB site and when looking at the Blackberry Music Gateway, I noticed it had the PB listed under NFC compatible devices. Are they talking about the new 4G PB, and does that mean it's coming sooner than we thought?

Thats a good question. Though as of yet there has not been any talks (rumors) of NFC coming to the PB.

Wasn't there something on a new PB being passed through the FCC with NFC?
Though it would be cool if we had it in our PBs and a new software update made it active

The updated Playbook's passed through the FCC a couple of months ago with NFC, 4G, and dual band wifi (not sure if that last one is new though).

The link saudadeii provided only talked about the new PB.
Confirmed here at Blackberry World during a Canadian Breakfast a few hours before the main keynote is the new BlackBerry PlayBook with 4G LTE. The updated tablet will sport an updated 1.5Ghz dual-core processor and will have NFC (Near Field Communication) enabled from the get go. It will likely look very much like the current PlayBook. Stay tuned for more from BlackBerry World 2012.
The keynote is over now and no LTE PlayBook has been announced yet. Above is the slide showing some details of the device.Last edited by RoseBud68; 05-11-2012 at 11:10 PM.

It may be that the compatibility list that RIM posted for the new Music Gateway is inaccurate - it has changed a few times over the last few weeks - and that the Blackberry Playbook they are referring to is the newer one.
I've seen the question posted on twitter to RIM and others but haven't seen any official response yet from RIM regarding this. I'll send an email to RIM seeking clarification regarding this and see what type of response, if any, I get back.
Edit: @BlackBerryHelp sent this to me this morning: "NFC is not supported on the Playbook"Last edited by Darlaten; 05-29-2012 at 10:15 AM.
To RIM haters - Why dont you go find a parade and rain on it.
