Long time Blackberry user. Just got a Playbook today. I have Windows 8 as my desktop operating system.

My Phone was working fine with the desktop software. But today I got a playbook and tried to use it with my desktop software, but the desktop software doesn't read it as connected. It is also not reading my phone as connected either now ever since I tried to do my playbook.

I found through google a installing .net troubleshoot for this problem, but it didn't work. Any ideas? Thanks.

Which version of the desktop software are you using? Blackberry Desktop or Blackberry Link. I would use the newest version of the Blackberry Link. I have both a Z10 and Playbook working with Windows 8 and the newest version of Link without any problems.

I thing I have read is to uninstall Link and re-install it if this is what you have.

I will give it a try. My phone is a bold 9900. I just googled and found that 1,000,000 people have had the same problem. But there has has been 1,000,000 posts on how to fix it. I swear I have tried them all, and I am about to blow my brains out if I don't figure this out. So frustrating. Thank you PowderJockey. Hopefully this is the one!

Will my Bold work with this blackberry link? It says BB 10 OS.

No. Link is for BB10 and PlayBook. The old desktop software should still work with PB though.

My Bold 9900 somehow worked with the Link! Wooooo! Now after 6 hours I can sleep lol

in the notification area the phone manager often doesn't mount the playbook as a drive in windows 8. the best way is to map the drive and permanently mount it so you can put your media on there.

I've only had mine a month or so and have had similar issues.
