    I'm Not a technical person but aren't other tablets built with off shelf parts? I don't mean to sound rude but I really don't know.

    All the phone and table manufacturers do the same things, for phones and tablets - components are all outsourced, some are off the shelf, some are built to spec, then everything is assembled wherever labor is cheap. The original PBs were assembled at Quanta Computer in Korea, don't know about the current one. So yes, they all do the same thing. If you open up any one of them you get to see the list of the "usual suspects".
