Try this. It worked for me. Or you can just plug in via USB.

Not sure what problem you are running into when trying to transfer your movies thru BB Desktop. I've not had a problem doing that. Start BB Desktop Manager and once it recognizes your PB, simply open Windows Explorer, locate your movies on your laptop, and copy and paste or drag and drop to the Videos directory on your PB.

I received my playbook Christmas and have transfered five digital copies by converting the file to an mp4 file that was optimized for the playbook. Once the aimersoft soft ware was done converting, I used the desktop manager to sync the file to the playbook. The Aimersoft software removes the DRM protection and converts it to a file with proper resolution for the playbook. I am very happy with the software!

Said movies were not bought from iTunes and are therefore DRM protected, are they? If this is the case, you'll need software to remove the DRM protection before you can move them to the PlayBook.

Connect your Playbook to your laptop using the USB cable.
The Playbook will be mapped as drive Z: by default.
Just copy your movies to Z:\Video the same way you would copy them to any other drive.
