*NEW* Google Image Problem
Everybody knows about the problem with Google images on the playbook as of recently. People say that clicking on "switch to basic version " fixes it.
Yes, it does fix it, but it does not return it back to the way it used to be.
When you search something on Google images, it used to display an infinite page of results. It was ONE continuous page of images. There was no page numbers...it was one page.
Now, switching between basic version displays the images in pages. Yes I realize you can make 100 results per Page, but that is NOT the same. This requires you to press "net page" to view more results.
Another thing, this basic version doesn't give you as many search options on getting left side. Yeah I know you can click on advanced search but that takes extra annoying time. It used to give you the option of what color of images you wanted to view, as well as the size, and other things.
To me,it seems like the Google images has been "down-dated" to an older version of Google images. I have discussed this before but people say that the basic version is the same, but it is not. While it may work fine for those people, some of us want the ease of having one continuous page of images instead of being required to click "next page", plus those useful search options that are no longer there.
Let's discuss this and hopefully get it figured out. Does anyone who is reading this thread notice the difference between "basic version" (aka the quick fix) and the previous version which displayed the continuous page of results? It would be great to get this fixed. please only post if you are experiencing this problem or have some good input. I don't want this thread to turn into an argument.

It is what it is for the time being. Use it that way or don't or get an android if it bothers you that much then you can Google all you want.

Just go to m.google.com and use the mobile Site for images. That still works. As for regular image search, I hope it's not like intentional.

It's not really a Playbook problem. Google is identifying the PB Browser as a mobile browser and accordingly giving you the results you get. If this is a problem for you, use Dolphin Browser, go into settings and set the user agent as "desktop". You'll get the results you want this way. Simple Browser will also work.

I liked Google and Google images, but when it comes to feeling 'forced' to use any site/app with a particular device then I rather switch services (even if slightly less superior). So if Google Images become a hassle on my PB, I will use Bing. If Kindle won't release an app, I will buy books from Kobo. So forth and so on because in the end, if they don't want me as a customer then, to be frank, screw them.
It is good to have choices and to know that there is generally a company or a developer that is more than willing to fill the void as much as they can.

Google is on their way to destroy RIM
Maybe later they will screw up the search result if you are using Playbook

YES! wait... what? NO!
on topic, is there actually any real benefit to it loading infinite images rather than just a page or up to 100 at a time?
My desktop PC seems to do the exact thing OP says his playbook is doing. is this not just google update rather than PB issue? - 05-10-2012, 06:56 AM #12
