I have problem with USB out on my Playbook. It doesn`t charge and connect with PC. I`m sure that need to replace USB out because I can see fisical damage inside the USB out on the panel. I live in Israel and I have no idea where I can fix it.
What I suppose to do?
you will probable have to send it to RIM for repair. Give RIM Custormer Service a call and get an RMA number from them. then you will have to send it to them (probably pre-paid) for the repair.
Depending on the cost of such repair, you might want to take a look at a NEW playbook, the price for the 64 Gb has dropped.....
The rapid charger uses a magnetic connection with the three prongs on the right of the mini USB port. It even charges faster then the standard charger. I transfer files thru wifi, never thru mini USB port.
If you can find an electronics expert you can get them to jump wires between the port and the motherboard (the leads on the board are too fine to solder as is, hence the need for wires).
However this is only a last ditch resort (only if RIM says your SOL) as any motherboards fixed by this method are still very prone to the exact same thing happening again in the future.
