- I am on vacation and realized I could use some kind of adapter to convert the magnetic three pin to a micro usb so I could use the rapid charger with my bb phone.
Is it possible?07-06-11 11:23 PMLike 0 - I am going to go out on a limb and say no. There is probably some way to do it but it will probably cost more than buying a stand alone charger or add a lot of bulk.
I bet when companies finally realize that the PB is outselling the Xoom that they will start coming up with more accessories. iGo products probably has a tip that works now but they just haven't tested it yet. And a magnetic tip to add to their lineup shouldn't be that difficult.
The company that surprises me the most is Seidio. They do not even have a Playbook category for selling the small accessories that are universal for everything. But yet they have 4 items in the Xoom category that are universal.07-07-11 07:04 AMLike 0 - I was hoping to encourage the crackberry store. I was not sure if the power out might blow the charging circuits in the phone.
I was hoping for some small thingie.07-07-11 07:51 AMLike 0 - I suspect the phone is setup to only take what it needs but it would probably charge your BlackBerry in 30 seconds flat! :-D07-07-11 10:34 AMLike 0
- Instead of looking for an adapter for the rapid charger, use the original charger from the PlayBook instead for your BB.
Why? Because that is the BB Premium Charger which has 1.8A output. So in theory, you can charge your BB to full capacity in 1 hour or less.
As comparison, the BB Premium International Charger only has 700mA output (the standard in-box) while the BB Power Plug has 750mA.
Most BB has less than 2000mAh battery capacity, so having 2400 watts charger is quite unnecessary unless you want to fry your battery07-07-11 02:21 PMLike 0 - Use the micro usb charger that came with the PB for charging a BB in a pinch or if you need it charged quickly. However do NOT try to use the rapid PB charger! The rapid charger for the PB is 12 volts, not 5 like a normal USB charger, hence the different end on it as well. 12v would cook your BB in no time flat.
One other thing to remember, faster charging = more heat. More heat = more wear and tear on the battery and it will degrade it's ability to take a charge over the long term. Rapid chargers are nice, but they do wear out batteries quicker.07-07-11 02:31 PMLike 0 - I was tryimg to minimize the amoumt of chargers and cables that I drag along. I wound up not bringing a wall charfer so had to bring in the car charger. I was thinking an adapter for the rapid would be one less item.
i will work around it.07-07-11 06:11 PMLike 0
