IN YET ANOTHER STUNNING TURN OF EVENTS (drumroll please)... 9930 BRICKED!!! It's up and running now as I typed this but not without me freakin out for a few minutes
I don't know WTF happened. I updated it last night, it took a while but was successful. I backed up 8330 for the last time, used that backup to restore data to 9930.
I then try to goto AppWorld, and the first sign of an issue was that it would not log in, circle was spinning and finally timed out minutes later. I tried this three time straight and same result. At that point I gave up and went to sleep, the phone had been fully charged at that point.
I wake up this morning, press the center button and it's telling me it will shutdown due to battery low. Okay. ?? So on a quick trip to the store I connected micro USB cable but no lights on the phone. Luckily I purchased a charge doc because when I got back I put it on the dock and at least now I see a battery icon in the middle of the screen.
Fast forward, the phone is working again, like 5 minutes ago.
SERIOUSLY? Would I have gotten this result WITHOUT having the BB dock? I checked the charger in the car and it charged my BT headset. So the problem wasn't the charger. DO I NEED TO RELY ON THE DOCK CHARGER WHEN THE BATTERY COMPLETELY DRAINS?
BWAH HAH HAH HAH HAH! Jafobabe and I put the bad mojo on your 9930 without your knowledge. "No Mr. Bond, I expect it to DIE!"
Not too late to switch back to the BETTER decision...
I picked up a 9900 when it first came out in August, and I enjoyed it, but the brutal battery life and no auto-focus (I take a lot of pictures) made me go back to the iPhone with the 4S in October.
My fianc got me a 9380 for Christmas since I will always be a BB user at heart, but I just couldn't deal with the all touch screen. Swapped it out yesterday for a 9810 and I will say that this should be the flagship Blackberry. It has everything (minus NFC) that almost anyone could want. Amazing big screen, great keyboard and an overall quality feel to it. And an auto-focus camera that takes crystal clear pictures.
Should have been an easy pick Cleveland but what are you going to do
Enjoy whatever you end up with but I would 100% choose the 9810 any day of the week after using them both.
not to beat a dead horse, but I just gotta say there's a NIGHT and DAY difference from 8330 to 9930.
I just went from $88/mo to $116/mo for a phone that reset once a year to a phone that resets/I need to reset once/twice a day.
not too happy right now. Not trying to be a drama queen about it either by starting a new thread, but my choice for 9930 over 9810 my have been... nah I'm happy with my decision!!!
And we wonder why RIM stock is in the toilet... But the 9810 is SOLID. See how I worked that in there?
Edit - as I saw the BeBold ads in Times Sq last night, I found myself disappointed that the 9900s are flagship. As someone stated in an earlier post to this thread, the both 4g Torch models should be the hallmark. I kept thinking BeBricked...
I'm surprised they're flagship as well, because I JUST RETURNED IT!!
That was the most unstable phone (@ 7.1.0.7xx Sprint) I have used in a looong time. I couldn't take it anymore. and before I bad-mouth the 9930 here on the forums, let's just say the phone wasn't for me
So talking with the Sprint reps they refused to let me goto AT&T for smartphone shared plan, which meant moving my wife as well. I knew I liked my relationship with Sprint for a reason
Anyways I'm back to my Curve 8330, anxiously awaiting a 9850, and an iPhone 4S for wifey. Sticking with Sprint y'all (in my Oscar Proud voice)
I'm surprised they're flagship as well, because I JUST RETURNED IT!! ...snip...
RIM, are you hearing this? Hello? Even the dedicated few are returning yer phones! Cleveland - keep an eye on the 9810 forums for info. We'll let you know if there is an issue to be aware of.
Damn. My thoughts about the phone vacillate each time I go to the 9930 forum or read comments like yours! Sorry it did not work out. I don't read as much negative on the 9930. Yours kept crashing? Poor battery life? Just a disappointment?
