I just checked my order status at Staples.com for my Playbook and it shows as "cancelled". This can't be good.

I just talked online with a customer service rep and was told:
"This is simply part of our preorder process to avoid the pre authorization charges on account. It has not been actually canceled."

Also, I asked about the shipping and was told:
"The product will ship as originally described in your confirmation, nothing has changed. It will ship between April 18th and 20th."
...even though it says April 13th.

I ordered the 3rd day. It didn't show as cancelled until today.

My order also says cancelled. I too called and was told this is how they do things that everything is ok with my order.

You know, it would be nice if companies would learn to proactively inform their customers of such changes so as to not alarm them and make more work for their CSRs.

I just checked staples. they are sold out and thats why they cancelled the order. i am re-ordering

Just how Staples system works unfortunately. I called today as well and they actually have special instructions regarding the PB preorders. They show as cancelled due to the whack Staples system but are still good to go and will ship between April 19th and 21st. So don't worry if yours shows cancelled its still there. Can always call 800-STAPLES and give them your order # and they'll reassure you.

Trust me if they are cancelled they'll feel the wrath of CrackBerry.

agreed but thats what i asked about with reference to what you guys are discussing here. this guy flat told me "no the order has been cancelled as we are out of stock" i am going to call again to see if i can talk to someone with intelligence up there.

Sounds like Staples needs a new system to do pre orders...None of what you guys are saying makes any sense from a distribution stand point. Sounds almost like their system has something like a backorder flag set to No and when the system ran whatever process against stock it said welp cancel these since we don't have them

This was an online conversation today...because of the cancel thing I was a little nervous but all is well......as far as the 11th thing I am not buying it but it goes to show some agents are not up to speed on the 19th thing.

Mine is showing the same as pk, staples is weird, and still some custo servs, sayin 4/11 delivery???? well I hope so but doubt it.

I had my order cancelled and delivery date changed from 4/13. It seems that the soonest that I would get my delivery is now on launch day and nobody with customer service can promise that it won't be as much as 4 or 5 days AFTER launch day.

What the heck is the purpose of a preorder? I cancelled mine, and now that I see Office Max will have the Playbook along with BestBuy on the 19th, I'm really glad I did. I'll just run over to one of those stores on the date and pick mine up.

Staples has made this a complete fiasco. They lost me as a customer in the future.

By the way, is April 19th somehow still in the 1st quarter in Canada? RIM really dropped the ball on that. I guess it's a good thing that they've made a superior product or I'd be writing this on my iPad.
