My Playbook is a year and a half old. It has been used quite a bit. Battery is still strong despite at least one, and sometimes two charges and discharges a day.

I am concerned about my display, though. About a month ago, I noticed that the display occasionally turned into a "color negative."

Now it dims sometimes without me doing anything.

That does sound like a hardware problem and not software. But just in case, have you installed any new apps around the time this occurred?

I guess you could still try calling them on the off chance that they reinstate the warranty

The PB has a one year warranty to the original purchaser. It also has 90 free Tech support. I do not know how Rim deals with "quasi-tech support v. warranty"

Called RIM. They agreed to fix it. FedEx picked it up today. Should have it back in about a week. Well, lets see how this goes.

That sounds terrific. I am reluctant to ask - did they mention a charge or does it sound as if they might fix it under warranty? Best of luck.

FedEx came this morning and dropped off a brand new Playbook at my front door. I am restoring my settings from the old PB to the new one now.

To say I am impressed with RIM is an understatement. My Playbook was a year and a half old. The entire process took a week. No charge.

The RIM tech support person, Cheryl, answered my support call promptly (I think I was on hold for a minute at most), handled my problem quickly and professionally, and I am a happy camper.

This may be emotion speaking, and not logic or reason, but it makes me very inclined to trade my iPhone in on a new Z10.

Support was great for most where the PlayBook was concerned. I think my turn around was 4 business days. For the phone you would probably at the mercy of the carrier.

Great post op. I'm currently having the same exact problems with my Playbook as well. Comes and goes most times but oddly enough I've found if you bend the Playbook in from the two corners it seems to fix the flickering for a little while. Always comes back though.

Anyway its nice to hear that Blackberry was able to fix your Playbook with a great turn around time. Hopefully everything will go as well as your return did out whenever I decide to call them up about my Playbook.

That's exactly what was going on. The circuit board runs vertically up the middle of the playbook, with batteries on either side of it. If I pushed on the back of it in the middle, I could get the display back. Sometimes that worked for awhile, but sometimes not. The problem got progressively worse over time.

Oh, again, they did not fix it. They sent a new one.

I have had that issue for months now, didnt think anyone else would have this issue. I think i will try support, only reason i didn't yet contact them was because I had it replaced by them for charger port issue about a year ago (way out of warranty).
My quick fix has always been to put the PB to sleep (screen off) then swipe (turn on the display)
