At Devcon Europe, RIM will make a presentaion detailing all the new features in OS 2.0. and all the ported androd apps.
The attendees will be able to upgrade their free playbook with OS 2.0. (not beta)
This will generate the hype leading to the Feb 17 release date. It will also give RIM a chance to resolve any last minute deloyment issues.

Feb 17th has already been noted as the internal goal date for release by RIM.

There are quite a few threads about this already. My friend who works for RIM in Waterloo told me that Feb. 17th is the date about 2-3 weeks ago.

@3lionsbecks - The Feb 17th date is not the point of the post. It is the activities leading up to the release date which may or may not be Feb 17th.
