| | Multiple Blackberry IDs_Is it worth correcting?
In the excitement of starting up my new Playbook over Christmas, when the system prompted me for the Blackberry ID, not thinking I ended up creating a new Blackberry ID. I already had a BB ID for my Torch and previous phones.
I have about 10GB of movies downloaded and maybe 5 apps on my PB - only one which was not free.
Anyone care to offer an opinion if it is smarter for me to perform the security swipe and change the BB ID on my Playbook to my original ID, or is it better to simply operate with 2 different BB IDs
Thanks for your input.

I'd go for only one ID.
Backup your PB using DM and then do tbe wipe. You'll have to buy that one app again on uour old ID though, but you'll be able to restore all the rest from the backup.

Backup your PB first.. you will loose the paid app when you do a security wipe. The others you can get again from AppWorld.
Once you change your ID you can recoupe your movies using the wifi sharing with your PC and copy them (or drag and drop) over to the PB.
Those are my thoughts, as I have not had to do this.

Those are my thoughts, as I have not had to do this. | If he does a full backup, all media will be restored as well, along with settings and apps (free ones, at least - I am not sure how it will react to loading the backup on a different ID).
But I think she will be ok, worst case scenario is having to buy the app again.

Thank you all for your input.
I have the movies on my PC so if lost I can reload...slowly...
And I guess I can pony up another $0.99 for the Whats Up app.
It appears that having a single Blackberry ID is recommended....thanks again!!!

OS2 allows you to change your BlackBerry ID information without having to wipe. I haven't tried it but you may want to wait until after you update to OS2 and see how that works. It might be easier.
Has anyone tried it with OS2?

I only have one ID but yes, I've seen the screen where you change it with OS2. I'd still backup anyway, backups are ALWAYS welcome.

I'm not sure that it really matters. There are probably some folks who own one bb phone and two pb's and therefore, have two bbid's anyway. I guess it could simplify your life but I'm not sure there is any other issue that is critical.

I have 2 ID's. Originally one for my 9000, one for my 9800. It was driven by the way an earlier version of App World displayed uninstalled apps. I don't think the earlier versions of App World tracked BBIDs like it seems to do now. I used my 9000 BBID for my PB.
Another factor in my case, is that my 9800 is tied to my employer's BES, my 9000 is not. That's why I still keep them separate.

Has anyone tried it with OS2? | I don't think that changes the BBID account, but just the email for it.

If anyone looks at this thread in the future, I went ahead and completed a security swipe. As a note, when you backup your PB, and then re install, all the Apps were renewed, even the apps I purchased using the different BBID and different App world Account.

I also expect you not to be able to get an update for the app unless you pay for it.
Glad it's solved.

The biggest upside to using the same BBID is for paid apps. If an app developer submits both BBOS and PlayBook versions of an app then one purchase of that app gets you both. You'll notice when you look in App World on your phone in the uninstalled section most PB apps will be listed as "Unavailable for this Device", but something like Pixelated will be listed as downloadable because it has a BBOS version too. Pixelated of course is free, but this applies to paid apps too.
