Got a 16gb PB with a broken USB port. I was going to put in complete replacement MB from Ebay when I read about 'upgrading'. Do I only need to swap the motherboard to get a 32Mb model or are there more bitsto make it work? Anyone done this?

Change the motherboard and you get a whole new PlayBook. New PIN, new everything. I suggest you ring BlackBerry and see what they say about fixint it.

Motherboard swap seems to have gone smoothly. Looks like the PB was security wiped before being dismantled so no more difficult than buying a used one. Only problem was getting the tiny screws back in with my old eyes, escpecially the one by the magnetic connector

If I have to replace anything in a playbook. I rather just buy another one. You can buy a 32GB for less than $80 bucks

well done and it's nice to see someone having a go themselves for a change, the problem with techy types is they usually aren't that practical so chuck it in a drawer, go buy another then complian about the amount of broken tech around the house.

For the sum of the parts then IMHO it just sneaks in under the wire for economically viable. Factor in an hour of my time then I guess not but, hey, I enjoyed doing it. Case and screen were immaculate and a strong battery so it seemed a shame to bin it. Think I'll stick to fiddling with PCs as its a lot easier to see what I'm doing
