i'm having a problem that the message icon shows new message but there are no messages in my inbox i'm running 1.0.7.2670

I had that too, no idea why. It bugged me, so I marked one of the messages as "unread", then selected another message, and then selected the message I had just marked. The notification went away - guess I had to give it what it wanted!!

I just turned the bluetooth off on my BB, waited a few seconds and turned it back on again and the icon disappeared
