- is it just me or has anybody noticed this as well?
Playbook OS 1.0.3.1868
Bold 9700 OS 5.0.0.979
I bridge my 9700 and PB everyday and after using it for one week, i noticed that my 9700 would start lagging. i checked the "file free" amount on my 9700 and to my surprise it dropped to 15mb (90mb+ at a fresh restart). Does bridging really use up that much memory? all i do is email, bbm and browse (using bridge browser) and according to me, i am a "lightweight user"... and since i have the PB, all i do on the 9700 is accepting and making calls.
is this normal? is this because i am still on OS5? anybody else having this issue as well? i dont want to upgrade to OS6 with my 9700 if not necessary.
tx for your feedback.05-19-11 11:43 PMLike 0 - My 9780 has been bridged to my PB since April. 24/7, except when I leave my PB in my office by accident and it disconnects. I have not noticed any type of memory bleed, and like yourself I only use my phone for calls (two-three times a day as it's my personal, only use BBM and mail functions while bridged). The only thing I do not use is the bridge browser. Could it have something to do with that?05-20-11 12:29 AMLike 0

Would mind giving a trial for browsering??

I will use the bridge browser tomorrow at work for awhile and see if I suffer any memloss.
Cheers,05-20-11 01:42 AMLike 0 - do you guys think its BB handheld OS related? or should I really have to upgrade to OS6?
anybody tried bridging with a hybrid OS?
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com05-20-11 11:25 AMLike 0 - yes. i am using the latest bridge version (1.0.0.83). and still i am experiencing the memory leak on my 9700. i think i will experiment a bit. i will wipe my 9700 and will install absolutely no 3rd party apps. lets see how that works, then i will try using a hybrid OS... i will keep u posted upon my results/experience05-22-11 03:23 PMLike 0

It wasn't a problem before we got BBM on the PlayBook.
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com05-22-11 04:11 PMLike 0 - Same here on my 9000. I've tried JSL v5.0. I also tried BDHP v7.0 over .1067 base, also bad leak. I then tried BBTweaks hybrid and thought it was finally fixed but then I realized I didn't bridge to my PlayBook for 2 days. As soon as I did, bad leak again. I've only noticed this with the updated Bridge app.

wow. so even with a hybrid it leaks drastically. then i wont bother trying. is this an issue that can be resolved by the PB OS or is "bridging" only for BB's with large memory suitable? it is kinda annoying that after a few days i need to restart my 9700 due to lags...
and usually it always lags at the most inconvenient time.05-24-11 08:41 AMLike 0 - Same here on my 9000. I've tried JSL v5.0. I also tried BDHP v7.0 over .1067 base, also bad leak. as we know that bold 9000 got a little free memory.
my bold 9000 has 30MB free memory after battery pull.
and i did the restart/battery pull once daily to keep it work smoothly.05-24-11 12:07 PMLike 0 - 9650/Bold. It has been 17 days since I reboot it. Memory is down a mere 2.3mbs in that time. It has been continuously bridged while in range of my pb. OS 5.xxxxx05-25-11 10:05 AMLike 0
- well on my 9700 OS 5.0.0979 i deleted all apps that i dont need.
right the only 3rd party app left are:
capture it
navita translator
repligo reader
ubersocial
whatsapp
bbreader (bible reader)
vibrate on call
facebook
YM
after a battpull i started at 88'457'800, i just bridged PB nd 9700 this moment (while entering this post) and it has already dropped to 79'261'800... i truely think BBos 5xx979 is not stable enough for bridging...
any 9700 users not experiencing mem-leaks?
what OS are you using? (OS5 preferred)..tx05-26-11 04:38 AMLike 0 - well on my 9700 OS 5.0.0979 i deleted all apps that i dont need.

- hey this is new i used 9700 i used to use it with os 6.0.0.546 turns out the leak is awful. same thing happened with os 5.0.0.1xxx (sorry i forgot)
couple days a go i installed 5.0.0.586 official t-mo ('coz i use t-mo's 9700 and this is the out of the box os) and after pass 24 hour i my memory only drop 4.5 MB
although it's an old os i'm pretty happy with the performance of both bb and pbjajano likes this.05-26-11 08:30 AMLike 1 - @sportline: cant speak for torch, since i dont own a 9800
@feek: well i got a non-branded 9700, but i will give the 5xx586 OS a try... thx!
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com05-28-11 02:34 AMLike 0 - didn't shrink mine with JSL as that is already done. i boot with 30MB or more and it settles around 20MB and stays stable for days. it is worse since the BBM update.05-28-11 06:40 AMLike 0
