i just charged my PlayBook overnight and it reached 96%. is this normal? Has anyone reached 100%?

could just not have been on charge long enough. I put mine on for 7 hours last night and it is not even at half. I am heading out to get the desktop fast charger Kevin talked about in his review because i can see this playbook getting lots of use :-)

I don't think so. I went to bed with over 80% charge. So, it should have easily reached 100%. This is probably a software issue, so I'm not terribly worried, but it would be nice to see 100%.

If anyone else can confirm this, it would be appreciated.

The supplied charger is so under powered that even when mine did get to 100% it would drop quickly when turned on. The only way I could get it near 100% was to have it turned off.

This is why RIM has a more powerful charger on the way! $$$

According to the PlayBook manual, it doesn't charge when turned OFF. I tested this, and it's true. It will only charge when ON.

That was the exact same number I have right now after having put it to charge before I went to bed and 96% is as far as it went.

OK thanks, then this is probably a calibration issue in the software where 96% is actually 100%. RIM, please fix this is the next OS release.

When I say off, I mean sleeping and not shut down cold.

It does not charge when completely OFF (i.e. shut down). The manual says this, and I have verified it through testing. Weird.

that would be why i only got to 45% all night as i turned it off thinking it would charge faster. That makes no sense at all!

i bought the more powerfull charge and what a huge differnece but once again i only got to 97% and it was in the craddle sleeping for 6hrs.

DOes anyone see the charge percentage actually decrease when you use your PB. Mine went from 100% to 96% while plugged in the whole time. This tells me the charger can not produce enough to keep up with using it.

yup, i have the same issue. im glad i saw this thread because i didnt notice until 10 mins of use when i noticed 95% so i was worried that i wasted 5% that quickly. hopefully this will be addressed in the next update.

I do not think this can be fixed in a update. This is a sign that the PlayBook uses more power than the charger can supply.

This is why they will be selling a more powerful accessory charger, $oon the be available

i got to 100% after less than an hour im at 95% last night when i was charging and browsing i also noticed the charger can't keep up, wonder if this will get addressed by rim...
