After updating to OS2 yesterday I notice that bootup time on the playbook is taking almost twice as long as OS1 did. My last few boots took 2:45 to get to home screen. That seems odd as even my win7 machine boots in about 1:15.

    Anyone else notice this?

For sure its a bit longer, i think maybe its checking to make connections so its ready and synchs as soon as the user can access the home screen?

With OS 2.0, the Playbook's hard drive is partitioned into several pieces --- some are encrypted, others are not.

didn't noticed a huge difference, a little slower but i can't really tell.
for me it feels the bootup time is about the same as OS1.

It's definitely a lt slower than before - not quite a minute longer.

Slow than molasses in winter time. Slower than windows XP on a bad day.

It does this to drain more of your battery before getting to actually use it. LoL

I'm kidding, sorta... It leaves me in a bind really. Do I want to have to power it up and wait almost 3 minutes before using it every time or do I leave it in standby and have it suck the life juice out of the battery twice as fast as 1.8? Bum deal.. Before I didn't even have to think about it.

One problem is some people are timing it from when they first see the boot logo, not when they hit the power button.

Always time boot from when you hit the power button... that's when things are actually starting, so there's no sense skipping the first 10-20 seconds.

I don't recall 1.0.8 numbers exactly, but here are some detailed numbers from 2.0.0.3894: http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...3/#post6854466 In another thread pre-2.0-beta, Chaddface reported 87s, which is 1:27, though I don't know if that was from button or logo.

I think I have 2:55 as well, now, consistent with Spinal's numbers.

So it's slower, so what? I'm sure there is a perfectly good reason for it, and I'm in no hurry to find out why. When it's up and running, my PB is functioning at 110%+.

That's funny. I was looking for someone that timed a previous OS I guess I did.
I am getting 2:40 from the red led.

I agree, it's not a life changer. Some of us just have a need to know. As a kid a took all my toys apart. As an adult I still take things apart but I fix instead of break. I even send my engine oil out for analysis.

True - not a life changer, but coupled with a quicker drain in standby and it does become annoying. I don't give a hoot if it takes 10 minutes to load as long as it maintains 1.8 battery drain, but it doesn't. I am a little disappointed with this, but I guess it will just force me to keep a charger handy. More sh1t to stuff in my pocket, and people already think I'm a little too happy to see them...

I actually enjoy the animation. Call me crazy but I restarted my Playbook a few times after I installed OS 2.0 on 2/21 just to watch the bokeh aurora startup.
