On my laptop, I use some live streaming sites to watch international sports.

These sites often have multiple ads that cascade over the window you want to watch. If you click on the 'X', the site then often open. Very annoying, but it seems that with Firefox and adlock add-ons, the problem almost goes away.

I thought it would be an idea to have the sports coverage on the Playbook while i do other things on my laptop. Well I tried and although I can open the sites, the ads make the sites unusable.

    Questions
    - Will live streaming work on the Playbook?
    - Is there anything equivalent to adblock to get rid of the cascading ad windows?
Or perhaps a different browser with more options to eliminate ads? There is one or two options on native browser I didn't try - Enable websockets and Enable WEb Inspector - what do those do?

SimpleBrowser+ does have an Ad Block. I do not know whether it blocks the types of ads you are interested in (not seeing).

For me they open in a new Tab so they are easy to close. I don't know how it will work in the BB10 browser.

Thanks - I just had a look at it but couldn't quite understand how it does ad blocking. If you have to enter each site you want blocked, that doesn't really work. Blocking pop-ups of all kinds is all that is really needed.

How do you get that to happen? Which browser?

Stock browser. Most links and pop ups load on a new tab. The stock browser has a anti pop-up feature, but it isn't the best there is...

I carefully click on all those X with the BB remote until the stream kicks in. If an ad pops, I just close the tab.

What the OP is talking about isn't simple popup adds. They are almost embedded on the page and in front of the stream so you have to close them and can't get "behind" them. Sort of like those adds on youtube but far more annoying.

I know exactly what he's talking about. FirstRow and other sites like that have those types of ads. I use my Bold as a mouse and click the Xs just like I do on my laptop.

Lags very hard trying to close those ads on Firstrow...

I find it funny how ads don't work properly on Twich.tv. and Own3d.tv. Half the time the ads play, covers up the screen, but sound is from the stream.

SB+ maintains an advertisement block list and updates it automatically, no user interaction required. Works really well and even blocks the ads in youtube videos.

I believe you can also load in your own block list but that's beyond my interest.
