Live streaming and popup ads
On my laptop, I use some live streaming sites to watch international sports.
These sites often have multiple ads that cascade over the window you want to watch. If you click on the 'X', the site then often open. Very annoying, but it seems that with Firefox and adlock add-ons, the problem almost goes away.
I thought it would be an idea to have the sports coverage on the Playbook while i do other things on my laptop. Well I tried and although I can open the sites, the ads make the sites unusable.
Questions
- Will live streaming work on the Playbook?
- Is there anything equivalent to adblock to get rid of the cascading ad windows?
Or perhaps a different browser with more options to eliminate ads? There is one or two options on native browser I didn't try - Enable websockets and Enable WEb Inspector - what do those do? - 11-11-2012, 09:03 PM #2
Re: Live streaming and popup ads
SimpleBrowser+ does have an Ad Block. I do not know whether it blocks the types of ads you are interested in (not seeing).

Re: Live streaming and popup ads
For me they open in a new Tab so they are easy to close. I don't know how it will work in the BB10 browser.

Re: Live streaming and popup ads
Stock browser. Most links and pop ups load on a new tab. The stock browser has a anti pop-up feature, but it isn't the best there is...

Re: Live streaming and popup ads
What the OP is talking about isn't simple popup adds. They are almost embedded on the page and in front of the stream so you have to close them and can't get "behind" them. Sort of like those adds on youtube but far more annoying.

Re: Live streaming and popup ads
I know exactly what he's talking about. FirstRow and other sites like that have those types of ads. I use my Bold as a mouse and click the Xs just like I do on my laptop.
