LED function?
haven't played around with my pb too much. but what does the LED do? I know it lets you know when its charging. but as for notifications like I hoped it does nothing for me. unless as ive not got it bridged with a bb yet?

It's not currently used for notifications. RIM decided to have the upper left corner of the screen put out a red glow for notifications, which is fine, but doesn't work when you're not actively using the PB and it's in standby (not even for bridge). My hope is that the LED will get used once Native Email and the 3G/4G PBs launch.

so useless as it stands then. the first time I saw the red flashing I thought it was bad. as I had a vague recolection of reading somewhere that it means its low on ram

Look for it to be more usefull down the line. with the 3g versions (or wifi on) and a bebuzz type function, It can probably be set to glow different colors for different things.. like emails, appts, facebook updates etc...
I have the Led on my BB set very specifically and I usually know from across the room to see who called/is calling or texted, if I got emails (from who / to which address..), when there are certain FB things going on etc... I find it pretty usefull and a top reason for staying with BB (for now). may want to play with the GSII though when it comes stateside... - 07-29-2011, 04:34 PM #5
Unfortunate that the PlayBook LED isn't so visible across the room like the one on the phones....
They really should have retained some of the unique BB legacy features that make the phones unique - like the bright omnidirectional LED, the trackpad, the keyboard layout...the back key , the menu key... but lately RIM seems to like playing follow the leader...instead of being the leader...
